My second favourite Muse album after Absolution (it's a close call!).

OoS has my top two Muse songs; Citizen and Bliss, both of which which I love more than I can describe. I adore Dark Shines; the bass, guitar solos, and vocals are perfect-if they play it at Reading I will cry. Space Dementia is epic, Plug In is riffingly brilliant, and even though Feeling Good is my least favourite live song, I do like the studio version a lot.

P.S: Cannot WAIT for Reading ;)

And yet Absolution is still my favourite Muse album...

I equate this to 1) Absolution being the first Muse album I heard and 2), Origin of Symmetry's flow going haywire from Screenager onwards.

Good things about the album

What an album. The fact Muse progressed and evolved so far after a single previous album release is extraordinary. Showbiz had a unique sound. Origin of Symmetry has a revolutionary sound. It is the far more consistent album.

Bad things about the album

Still in their early stages, I think Muse could have re-arranged their tracks on the album in a more suitable order. I've always believed Dark Shines and Space Dementia should have switched places.

Best track

Has to be Plug In Baby, though tied for second place is pretty much every other track on the album!

Worst track

Very difficult to label this track with such a negative title, but Screenager.

Favourite moment

Has to be the finale of Megalomania, I get chills.

Origin of Symmetry is by far my favorite album. 5/5.

New Born - 9/10 -- I love the building anticipation just before the awesome guitar riff.

Bliss - 8/10 -- Great song, but not my favorite.

Space Dementia - 9.5/10 -- I think the song itself is somewhat strange, but is still unbelievably awesome.

Hyper Music - 8/10 -- Not a bad song, but probably not one that I would choose have on a playlist.

Plug In Baby - 9/10 -- Amazing. A Muse anthem.

Citizen Erased - 10/10 -- Definitely my favorite song on the album. Infinitely awesome.

Micro Cuts - 10/10 -- Though I would never play this song to introduce someone to Muse's music, I think true Muse fans can really appreciate this song. I love it.

Feeling Good - 8/10 -- A great song, but also not among my favorites.

Screenager - 8/10 -- At first I didn't listen to it much, but I've come to appreciate it more. I really like the Hullabaloo version too.

Dark Shines - 9/10 -- A brilliant song, provides some more life toward the end of the album.

Megalomania - 10/10 -- I love this song. I don't know exactly why, but I just think it's great.

Futurism - 9.5/10 -- Another great song. I think it works well with the rest of the album. I love the guitar and bass on it.

Favorite moments:

- The high pitched voice in the second chorus of Megalomania

- The split second just as Matt says "for one moment" when you just have to burst out singing in Citizen Erased

- "With the chilllllll" in Space Dementia

- The transition from Citizen Erased into Micro Cuts - definitely two of my top three songs ever.

Good things

Much better than Showbiz, they began to get their own sound, setting off on their course to becoming what they are today. Veyr mature and well made, especially for a second album.

Bad things

Some of the tracks in the second half let it down, and Feeling Good really doesn't fit.

Best track

Citizen Erased. Still in my mind the best single track they've produced.

Worst track

Feeling Good is a great cover, but it's still a bad song.

Favourite moment

The moment New Born kicks off, after the twinkly piano intro, sounding like it's just going to be Showbiz part 2, and then POW! CEs coda and Megalomania give me shivers as well.

New Born - 8.5/10 Twinkly, yet slightly ominous piano decieves you before mega riffage blows you into the middle of next week

Bliss - 9/10 Brilliant blend between rock and upbeat, almost dancable melody

Space Dementia - 9/10 Dark and spooky, can't help but play along with the outro

Hyper Music - 7.5/10 Nicely angry and aggresive

Plug in Baby - 7.5/10 Guitar riff is awesome, but Matt's voice sounds too 'young' on it

Citizen Erased - 10/10 Still the best individual track Muse have made

Micro Cuts - 8.5/10 The Muse song for scaring non-Musers, the falsetto is awesome and the build up to the outro is brilliant

Feeling Good - 5/10 (Although as a cover, 8/10) Great cover of a bad song that doesn't fit

Screenager - 6/10 Really grew on me lately, but still one of the weeker moments

Dark Shines - 5/10 Never done much for me, but it's fairly funky

Futurism - 9/10 Album gets back on form here, epic bass

Megalomania - 9/10 Lovely way to end the album, lots of dark, gothic magic

5 stars easily, I think Absolution just beats it, but it's a stonking album and a masterpiece as far as second albums go.

I'd give it 87/100

Has a few brilliant songs (new born, bliss, c.e, pib), memorable riffs(pib, new born) and some out there tracks (space dementia, megalomania, microcuts). let down by tracks that don't stick in the mind (darkshines, screenager). overall a good album that has tracks to sing along too and tracks to sit back and immerse yourself into

best part: riff of new born

worst part: the mood dependency of screenager

stand out songs: New born, Bliss, Citizen Erased, Plug in Baby

the good things is the riff and when its is being live. The song is like story telling from begin to end. I love that kind of music, very hard and rock!! :\mm/::\mm/:

the bad things is nothing...

the best track is new born absolutely

the worst track is (hard to make a choice..) maybe futurism or megalomania? I rarely listen them.

my favourite moment is matt's live, when he is spinning with plug in baby's riff.:dance:

I LOVE OOS!!!!

Origin of Symmetry is the best album. It is fluid, unforced, imperfect and beautiful. Easy to relate to and outrageous. Fun to rock out to and perfect for melancholy days. It is my favorite album from Muse and my second favorite of all time (Bowie's Lodger being my first). I love OoS.

From New Born to Micro Cuts ... this was one of the greatest albums ever for me... Screenager is my least favorite however the live piano version is amazing but the albums picks right back up with Darkshines (which is also better live; but what muse song isn't) Feeling Good and the amazing album closer Megalomania.

5 Stars for me

Maybe their best album however my opinion on their best album changes about once a week

For me OoS is Muse's best album! Definitely for me this is the album of choice. I enjoy all of the harder songs (being the metalhead I am :p) and I like the sound of its softer songs as well.

Best track: Citizen Erased (duh)

Worst track: Feeling Good (doesnt fit at all with the rest of the album)

Favourite moment: Bellamy's G#5 scream at the end of Micro Cuts - always sends shivers down my spine!
