Butterflies and Hurricanes Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hi! I was wondering, is there any Muse songs/lyrics that mean anything to you like they made you think about the world and what's going on, influences you in anyway or change the way you think about people? If so, then please share them, thanks!
trogette Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 not so much the lyrics (though they make me smile and raise my mood every time, of course ) but Feeling Good is a little bit of a 'stickin' it to the Man' anthem for me as a Nestle boycotter
wolstenstate Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 My song that means something to me is Butterflies&Hurricanes. Especially the lyrics: you got to be the best
Kirby Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 My parents are very controlling, so I always feel like I can identify with Showbiz... Actually the lyrics on the whole album are meaningful to me...
MrsWolstenholme Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 the order of the songs tells a story...you know? can't take my eyes of you endlessly muscle museum map of the problematique hysteria recess stockholm syndrome time is running out starlight feeling good can't take my eyes off you unintended supermassive black hole invincible
Mizutsu Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 A lot actually. Megalomania: Opened my eyes to the universe and made me really think; why are we here? Butterflies and Hurricanes: It's been my dream to change the world, and this song really encouraged me to continue on. Take a Bow: My "angry" song. It calms me in a way, and reminds me to be open minded to resist the evils in the world. Glorious: Gave me a real perspective of the universe and our existence. Blackout: Reminded me not to waste my childhood or my life for that matter, and to recognize the good things in life, like love and happiness. I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix): Makes me emotional about how strong love is, and how it can make anyone do anything for that one person. Exogenesis Symphony: We are the universe, that is all.

Exogenesis Symphony: We are the universe, that is all. I definitely agree with these
Tofu Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Apocalypse Please: My introduction to Muse, and made me feel like no song before it ever had. The perfect introduction to the grand adventure over the rest of my life. This is the end of the world as I had known it. Shine (Acoustic): I was listening to this when I found out my grandpa died... and it was oddly appropriate, and yet somehow comforting. Blackout: I'm not sure why, but the feeling I get from this one is just incredible, really makes me want to go out and just live my life and do things with the time I have. This life's too good to last, indeed. I guess a lot of Muse songs make me feel like this, but there's something about Blackout that makes it... stronger. Stockholm Syndrome: My feel good song for every occasion. Very liberating song as well... "I won't hold you back." Map of Your Head: A simple song that reminds me of just having fun and being young and lost. Which I can relate to, seeing as that's how I feel all the time these days. Exogenesis: Exogenesis is humbling. Who are we, when are we, where are we, why are we here? The grand scope of the music reminds me of the vastness of the universe and makes me realize how insignificant we really are. And yet, as Mizutsu said it, "We are the universe." Because our world is all we know. And we create such huge problems, but then we can start over, because it's not the end after all.
fadeddusk Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Exogenesis + Exo Politics= just the theory Time is running out= because time IS running out, and I'm restricted. Not 2 be depressing, but Earth won't be here anymore in 2 years, so I'll never be 18 . I'll never get to do what I want Citizen Erased= just...I love it Map of the problematique= because when we bleed we bleed the same Endlessly= my love from afar to one of my guy-friends Uno= muse is #1
MissM Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Map of Your Head: A simple song that reminds me of just having fun and being young and lost. Which I can relate to, seeing as that's how I feel all the time these days. +1 This song is pretty descriptive of my entire life at the moment. In all my confusion and stress, it makes me feel really good about being who I am and having the oportunities that I have, and it makes me feel real. Time Is Running Out: Can make me happy and full of energy no matter how down I am. It also holds a lot of happy memories from my year at photography-school and with my friends there. ROADTRIP!!! Uhm...yeah. The Small Print: What are we doing with our poor world? It's become corporate, media-driven and mad... We're pretty much all part of it, but it's not really how we want it to be. We exploit people without even being aware of it... Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist: Of course, this is pretty obvious, but really, it was a turning point in my life when I realized I wasn't able to believe in what the religion I was brought up in meant. I wanted to believe there was something watching over us, but I just wasn't able to. It doesn't make sense to me. So obviously, the following thoughts were that "this is it", I only have this one life. And as much as I want to believe that there is something more, I can't. Exo-politics: Well... I definitely believe that there is life out there somewhere on other planets. I don't have any theories about when they will find us/we them or what they will be like, but if there's life here on Earth, I don't see why there shouldn't be somewhere else as well. New Born: There isn't MUCH depth to why this means a lot to me. It was simply the song that made me go from being a random fan of Muse to a major fan instead. This, live, monumental. Me, a cliché, new born. XP Argh, gosh, now my brain is too tired... Will continue later sometime.
sdxfcg_ersxdtcfh Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Ah, Citizen Erased!! I really, really hate being questioned and magnified. Really. I can pretty much relate to all Muse songs. Megalomania means a lot to me. I'd love to get the lyrics tattooed on me, but it's just TOO pessimistic...
beatlesmaniac98 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 exogenesis part 3 and guiding light just cause.....words can't describe
Cassica Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 as of right now my boyfriend and I are "taking a break" in our relationship, so exogenesis part III is terribly perfect, and moving.... right now for us.
Fracturedman Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Every song they have meaning to me. However, feeling good has probably had the largest impact on me. the song has so much meaning to me... for obvious reasons. Unintended is a close second.
TheMystikEel Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Map of the Problematique. That's pretty much self-explanatory, lyric wise, in regards to my life.
Banksy. Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Uprising makes me want to get a mob and break stuff. On a more mellow note, Falling away with you made me realise how important memories are, and made me actually cry once.
JSPete Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Map of the Problematic...I heard this song just as I hit a rough patch in a relationship and it's relevance blew my mind...gave the song a seemingly deeper meaning than I used to realise. (When will this loneliness be over...Can't get it right since I met you etc you get the idea)
Killer Rabbit Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 ALL of them. But seriously, if I had to create a soundtrack of Muse songs for my life the past year, it would be: - Time Is Running Out - Sing For Absolution - Stockholm Syndrome - Hysteria - Endlessly - Starlight - Supermassive Black Hole - Glorious - In Your World - Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Bliss - Darkshines - Cave - Unintended - Overdue and even though they are new songs - Resistance - Undisclosed Desires - Guiding Light Falling in love with someone, thinking you have a chance with them and dreaming about the future, then getting rejected and dealing with the fall out is not a pretty thing. It fucking hurts like hell!!
Gembleby Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Stockholm Syndrome sums up the last few weeks of my last relationship, man I wanted to scream that in his selfish fuckin face.
Turk Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 The Chorus of Dead Star means quite a lot to me.. Sums up quite a lot of things in my life
xxMelbabeezxx Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Undisclosed Desires, Sunburn, Hyper Music, Megalomania and Apocolypse Please
Gigapoodle Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 No one's posted on this thread for a while, but I wanna Invincible: Say what you will, I love Invincible. It's a great song that represents how we should (and can) come together as one in order to make things right. We're all comrades anyway, no matter where we live or what differences we may have. Falling Down: I dunno why I've been affected by FD so much. To me it means something like 'I'm moving on from this, and you can't stop me'. Like a form of rebellion for the better. The line 'thousand houses burning down, no one is gonna save this town...' always stands out to me like that. Hyper Chondriac Music: It's so powerful and emotional. It doesn't actually strike a specific emotion for me, but everything about it just makes me want to belt out my true feelings deep down. It's really powerful, I'll say that again. Blackout: The lyrics, the orchestra, the solo....it's perfect. Something you need to listen to in order to understand. Citizen Erased: Those last two minutes hit me everytime. Some of the best, if not the best, lyrics ever written by Muse. Plus, the way it escalates and mellows out in the way that it does is amazing. Exogenesis: I'm at a loss of words on how to describe Exogenesis. THe above people have explained it better than me, so, y'know
Katya Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 There are several for me. In the past two years I've hit the lowest point I ever have. To this day..I still remember certain days and being in the car listening to certain songs and just being able to get through the next moment. -Easily (especially right now) -Map of the Problematique (is my life in every way for the past two years..listening to this..is something quite special and sad at the same time) -Hysteria (same as above) -Time is Running Out -Parts 1&3 of Exogenesis -Plug In Baby -Feeling Good (both of the last two are my, feeling completely alive songs)
