LTmusefan
Guiding Light has 100x the depth of the cheesier/luvvier songs of BH&R like Invincible, Starlight ad Soldier's Poem. Guiding Light is very poignent if you ask me, whereas the other three are vomit-worthy. more 10000000000x the depth of any of those trash songs they play on the radio
jbyun04
Beautiful song. I agree with some of the above posters. USoE is the war and corruption in the modern world, CD describes the peace being smashed by a prominent conflict and then GL is describing all the suffering in the world and explaining that hope cannot be found. SO pretty depressing really. yah then unnatural selection and then cia mind control, then matt's singing about a girl who's probably gonna die amidst all the mess and they wanna populate a different planet

Parts of the studio version of US aren't too good, whereas the studio of Guiding Light sounds amazing. I still prefer US though!
brian KEEEEM
Anyone notice the resemblance between Guiding Light and Those Were the Days of Our Lives by Queen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOJPvxgkvn8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGLtufyEMFU
futurophu
yeah TR is definately the queen album.. queen's guitar solo's longer. and guiding light's lyrics are more depressing.
Hopix
Guiding Light live. (first performance I think?) Aww, I wanted him to do the power falsetto at the end of the solo.

Clunge
*shudders* Even live it's dull. Nu-uh, I think it sounded pretty good there. It's one of those songs screaming out to be played up on the towers.

JakeLulz
I think it sounds pretty good live, IMO though the 'power falsetto' is the songs climax and it doesn't seem as good without it.

Yeah I dunno if it is technically a "power falsetto" so sorry if it's not guys, but that's what it sounds like, yeah, that part is awesome on the studio version and I hope he does it at least a few times live. Hopix
Well I've never heard the term before, which is why i quoted it But yeah he needs to start trying it. He does it for less obvious songs like PiB, New Born and Take a Bow (just watch HAARP) so why not Guiding Light?
CarrieB
Maybe to keep it stripped down. I like it. I don't think that it is one for the towers. Because it's already quite a cheesy song I think to hype it up with lots of effects would just make it laughable. I think stripped down, with them on the floor, you can just concentrate on the singing and the melody and it works that way.
Ophelia86
To me it sounded fantastic when I heard it live (Helsinki gig). I see it as a beautiful love song. And yes, I like many 80´s rock ballads.
Mozza
80s power ballads Unless Matt grows his hair really long, then it's acceptable
futurophu
it's really not any better live.. and i never thought i'd say that about a non- futurism muse song
Mozza
The studio version is just awful. "Guiding Light: 2/10 - This cheese has gone mouldy"
