the_man361 Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 tbf i'd like that too, it'd be really cool what makes it better is that its a pretty big image
Lick My Face Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Right, 3rd time asking, HOPEFULLY I'll actually get an answer: I'm thinking of an EQ pedal for my Bass, to completely replace any other EQs, both on other pedals and on the amp. I'm choosing between the Boss GEB-7 and the MXR 10-Band EQ. Is the extra £20 worth the ability to boost right down towards the low B on my 5-String?

The lowest band should be a shelf on both, so you'll be able to boost it (the bottom string) with both... It just depends how much control you want, weighted against price and size Also they probably sound different overall

Tbh, I'm not too bothered about that, as I imagine the difference would be somewhat negligible?

Lick My Face Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Yes but it may make a difference to you, even so! Try them out ideally - one may be your thing... Well, there IS a new music instrument shop that's allegedly opened in my town recently, might check out next Thursday or Friday when I have a day off next.

Lick My Face Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Good stuff! Just need to find out where it is first of all.
cheddatom Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Why do you want a pedal to replace your amp's EQ? It doesn't make any sense to me!
matthijs Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 The only logic in that is that you want different EQ settings or boost different levels without having to walk to your amp... but an amp's EQ is normally good enough as a standalone unless it has a lack of diversity in range.
cheddatom Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 But an EQ pedal you can only turn on or off, so when it's off, and you're not using your amp's EQ, there's no EQ!! You need EQ for toanz!
matthijs Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I would never use it anyway, also because I have the semi-parametric EQ. Great for quick adjustments. If you set your amp EQ to some basic sound, and thén set your EQ pedal sound, you can also use it as a boost pedal for solos.
cheddatom Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 yes, good point. It's just the way he worded it "I'm thinking of an EQ pedal for my Bass, to completely replace any other EQs, both on other pedals and on the amp." It doesn't make sense.
Lick My Face Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Why do you want a pedal to replace your amp's EQ? It doesn't make any sense to me! Because my amp's EQ is only 5-band, and I guess I'm just after more control, really. MuseMatt's idea of having a pedal in addition to my amp's EQ doesn't sound like too bad an idea. The pedal would be going at the end of the pedal chain anyway, and it'd be permanently on.
matthijs Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 than you're making my idea kinda pointless. Besides, you don't want it to be at the end I think. A pedal EQ would react in a different way to fx than an amp EQ

cheddatom Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 It depends what you want to acheive with it. I don't think using a 7 or 10 band EQ always on will give you much more than just your amp's 5 EQ.
coffee_and_tv Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 this is knt related and a quick question: why did tom get banned?
