That was after the 2010 Wembley Gig, replaced by an MB-1 and was repaired soon after although gravity won in the end! :D

"Ironically after months of being chucked around by Matt, normally after the Stockholm Syndrome's outro, Glitterati finally met it's end after falling from the towers at the start of Uprising at LA Staples Center 2010-9-26 gig. The curtains dropped and snagged onto the guitar stand behind Matt. Then presumably the roadies pulled the curtain, letting fall the guitar stand where also the Doubleneck (who survived) was placed. The MB-1 Red Glitter was used as a replacement until Matt got Santa 2.0 three weeks later. Footage of guitar stand fall can be seen at

(at 2m50s)."

Yep there was a funeral on Facebook and everything, remember? I'm guessing Matt has it now, but that's one of the many things I forgot to ask Mansons a couple years back

Ross0203, in case you didn't see it, here's the MB-1...

It's quite shitty that after enduring all the damage Matt put it through it was killed in such an underwhelming way. It deserved a better death!

The damage that Red Glitter and M1D1 are somewhat identicle, I wonder if they are completely beyond repair though :ninja: It seems that area in the MB-1 shapes are a weakspot

The routing for the electronics is done quite close to the edge, which leaves it thin on the bottom side, so I guess when he smashes them the "classic" way they crack easily

I did ask about the M1D1 at one point, and they did say it's completely beyond repair.

If you take it out of the case, it just falls apart apparently.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

No no no no no no no

Don't worry guys, I got it fixed soon after!

There was also this...

Those gloss finishes are really high maintenance at the best of times to be honest though.

The custom's great, built like a tank, haha!

I'd say the M1D1 is beyond repair, it's only a weak spot if you chuck it at a strobe light!

:D

As far as I know the red glitter ended up like that.

Also, Bs, do you expect any problems with the finish on your custom when you move to thailand?

I realize it should never ever move and all that, but.... well, you know

Finally got around to reading this masterpiece of a post, and here are my thoughts.

As I was saying somewhere else on the internets, each bit of damage tells a story.

But you've had it repaired...Now what will tell us about that time the case shut on top of it? Or the time that you were playing that band's name I can't find the correct characters for and managed to scrape up the forearm contour? It's like it never happened...at least we have records of these historical moments on the board.

How are gloss finishes high maintenance? All I ever do is wipe them off if they get covered with too much grime. That hasn't happened recently though... last bottle of Essence of Jim™ got used up quite a while back.

Also, as for the weak spot comment, look at santa 2.0 - it seems that the control cavity route ends further up, leaving more wood in case the jacks get smashed in like they did with the first one.

Didn't stop him from splitting it in two though :$

I sure as hell hope not. I'm not sure how the humidity's going to affect the wood though. I imagine the neck will need adjusting at some point? I've never had to do it here. I'm also a bit concerned about the electrical supply there not being grounded, knowing that I have MIDI cables providing power to both guitars, and one of them is covered in aluminium, haha!

Well, you can still see the place where the case chipped the finish, it's just been filled in. It's as close to repaired as it can get without the whole finish being reapplied, but you can just about make it out if you look closely. The scratches were just a case of using finish restorer thankfully. I wouldn't have wanted to keep them, and I'm a hell of a lot better at playing with a bow now than I used to be, so it won't happen again. I also wrapped the bit of metal on it that caused it up in cloth for extra protection against the finish. Jonsi doesn't care about damaging his guitar, but I'm a bit more careful to say the least, haha!

And I just mean in terms of cleaning them up. Whenever I finish playing the MB-1, I have to wipe it down to get rid of all the finger prints, dust, or whatever else has ended up on it. I finish playing the custom and you can't even tell it's been played, haha! I still give it a quick wipe down, but really, you wouldn't notice if I didn't.

  • 3 weeks later...

I am waiting patieeeeeeently, I'll wait for the email

It seems like it's taking forever :(

Looking through this thread it seems that the emails for the 2014 run went out around September 10th, 2013 and people starting receiving the guitars about October 10th, 2014 so that's 12 to 14 months build time. It's about 4 months since the end of the 2014 run so hopefully surely it'll be any day now :ninja: Does anyone have any idea of the time gaps between previous runs?

Ah I mean the time gaps between a run ending and the next one starting. But yeah, MGW FAQs say "anywhere between 8-12 months" to complete a run

I doubt they'll do another run this year. They have released the Cort, new MA models, and Adrian told me that this was going to be busiest year because of so many custom orders as well as the MAs and now the Cort. Also, Matt has all of his guitars prepared in the shop now which means I have to wait a couple of weeks extra for my MAs... :-/

A 2015 run has been confirmed, it's in their FAQ and Adrian told me via email. I emailed him around November/December to get some idea of when the run would be and he said it'd be 'at least a month'. But like you said this will be their busiest year and I expect that'll postpone the run. MB models take the most effort I think.

If the demand has been massively cut due to the EVOs and Cort guitars I imagine you'll have a chance for one:)

I was added to the list about two and a half years ago so I might be one of the first to receive an email but I'm worried I'll miss it or something! I'm checking my email every hour so to be sure

Hehe. Well I hope he'll add me to it... Wonder what goodies might come with the next MB though. The MB-2 one had a custom case and lots of goodies. Does any1 know if the "Access to all areas" concert pass really works?

Nah it doesn't. Not that I've tried :ninja:

It'll just be the same as last time with the signed certificate. the MB-2SE was a special single run of 18 (I think?) guitars for the 20th anniversary of the shop.

Perhaps they'll do a run with the gloss black and for 2000£ more they'll do the red carbon wrap
