I don't wanna predict on this, I don't like predicting long songs. I feared for Count of Tuscany by Dream Theater, its 20mins long, and its the most epic song this decade(if not last decade too). Porcupine Tree have a 14 part, 55 minute song released the same day, not predicting how that'll sound/come across. So same treatment for Muse, although for first attempt, who knows what may happen.

 

Can Muse really compete with those ultra proggy bands? Well they probably do the shorter forms a lot better, but I wonder if they are out of their depth going for 15 minuter monster.

This is muse we are on about- it will explode then fal then go into some mental riff that will have us screaming

Considering Matt has suggested this will be the song to remember him by in the years to come after Muse, it's hard to say other than awesome at this stage.

Muse isn't a prog band, so it probably won't be. Have no expectations, things work out better that way. :LOL:

 

@hannahb Matt stated that in the Muse Questions which were asked of the band in 2008...Question 10 was: If you would like to be remembered by just one song, what would it be and why? He said: "I certainly have not written that song yet! Hopefully something in the future, see question 23.

 

Question 23 was: Which song was the longest or hardest to compose? He said "There's a new song in 3 parts, more of a symphony than a song which I have been working on sporadically fo many years...It should hopefully make the next album as the final 3 tracks."

Dom mentions in the video-interview that some piano-pieces that matt played on the previous tours will be featured in exogenesis. Can someone search all those pieces?

I'm thinking about the pre-Sunburn thingy...

Wow these are cool. My favourite non song piano piece is still the pre-sunburn bit on the Glasto DVD.
