ok heres something i whipped up the other day, still more to do on the track but it'll do for now

there is two. one is a rock song and the other is what it started out as.. i wanted to try lots of contrasting genres and these two were my favourites.. tho taste wise i only like the rock one.. i think the other one is still ok.

Thanks Monty, that's one of my mixes. I always find something i'm not happy with after the fact, and with that whole EP it's that the guitars don't have balls!

if that was playin' in da club, i would grind to it... if you know what i mean.

Haha, awesome !

Any tips on the mix? We just got some new monitors and are possibly abusing the bass extension...

the bass doesnt seem overwhelming at all.

Ok that's good, I wasn't sure because we have a second bass track with just extreme subs and it nearly blew the (admittedly heavily bass-boosted) woofers in my car !

I don't think you can hear it on your average system but if you can reproduce it it's there :).

Just in case, when you go to master it, cut everything below 40Hz, 'cos, my friends did a demo once, and blew up their own car speakers before they realised there were frequencies there that they couldn't hear.

my bands myspace, we opened it up a couple days ago. Got 3 demos on there. the drums are mixed quieter than I like but no matter what I tell the singer, he doesn't boost them enough. I think he's mixing them to the parts with clean guitars and singing...

so who is ever going to listen to my band? advice would be nice.

thanks dudes,

monty

vocals are too loud...get someone other than your singer to mix it, sounds ok otherwise, i agree drums need to be higher in the mix, not the overheads so much, but definately snare/toms/kick.

guitars are ok, maybe a bit muffled but i think they work.
