I feel so obnoxious whenever I put out new stuff and want people to listen to it. But here goes:

I've just released my second EP 'körper'. It's out (for free obviously) on Bandcamp but I'll probably upload it on soundcloud sometime too. Mainly doom/shoegaze-ish music mixed with dancey electronics. Think Have A Nice Life meets 65dos or something. Enjoy!!

Oh my god, finally I find out where I leaned about Maraton. I've been asking everyone to find out who told me about this band...

these two songs

https://soundcloud.com/maratonband/change-of-skin

https://soundcloud.com/maratonband/everything-that-i-am

I must have listened to them both at least 100 times each. The production on these is perfect.

I did check out the new video, wasn't a big fan of the song, but as a "producer" I can confirm the above poster doesn't know what the fuck he's on about, the drums are fat as fuck

Bump for new page :)

You guys don't know how tempted our band is to cover one of your songs. We love it. :D I even think our drummer ended up talking to one of your band members for a while about a whole ton of stuff so thanks for that.

Change of Skin has been practically abused on my train trip today. The bass tone has sold me. :p

Wow, thanks for the kind comments! Sadly, our bass-player just quit so we're kinda at a loss of what to do right now.

@Crowella, feel free to cover any of our songs. If you film/record it, we'll publish it on our Facebook page!

Don't quite agree with the "thin metal drums" part for Seismic. We worked a lot to make them sound big and punhcy, with lots of low mids.

Let me know if you guys have any questions regarding the production/recording/mixing.

I hope we can give you the full record soon (we're trying to get a good distro deal, but no luck so far)

arrrgh I wish I was in Norway, I'd love to come play bass for you

About the production, how are you getting the guitar sound at the start of change of skin?

Actually, that was just a stereo mix of a rough take I did for the demo. You can actually hear the slight change in guitar tone in the B note that hits right before the C triplets. All that stuff was from the demo. The sound was just one of the basic Axe-FX presets that comes as standard.

You can hear one of the early demos here: http://simenruud.com/div/monoferric.mp3 - around 01:10.

Thanks, but what guitar and pickups? Also, I know I said "at the start" but I meant when it kicked in, sorry, should have been clearer

I'm using three guitars on the record, a PRS Mira, a Fender Tele American Deluxe, and a Fender Jaguar.

All of them have stock pickups etc.

The Tele is used on pretty much every song, and I think for Change of Skin the other channel is the Mira. They complement eachother pretty well, giving it a nice mix of humbucker and single-coil tones.

The amp was an AC30 and a Fat Rat.

Aw, shame about losing your bass player. Again, I'd do it if I could

We will definitely film it if we do that. Our focus right now is to get ready for a gig in 9 days with a setlist that is way too short.

I'm surprised by the Mira, it all sounds like single-coils to me! Thanks for all the info

We used fresh strings for each track, so that might contribute to it. The Tele was also louder in the mix. Mira has a coil-tap as well, could have been what I used.
