Stockholm Syndrome (definitive thread)

I actually play it the way it is in the tab book - those notes on the higher D string. Much easier IMO.

But this is Matt Bellamy...when was the last time he made an easy Guitar piece? :rolleyes:

In fact, when was the last time ANY of the intruments had an easy piece? :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Im not out for starting an argument here but SS isn't a difficult song. I just play it the other way because it feels more comfortable to me.

edit: I think it's more a case of matt always doing things using the most awkward methods possible... :rolleyes:

hmm it works but i still think the tab book way sounds fuller

Well course it does because they made it possible to play for one guitar by making it more chordy, i was just pointing out how it was recorded...you can actully play it the way i tabbed it for one guitar, just needs some streching!!!

For those with Line6 PODs, I've found this gives an almost identical sound:

Amp 29: Solo 100

Drive 100%

Bass 50%

Mid 100%

Treb 0%

Presence 100%

Cab 18: 4x12 Green 20's

Mic 3: 421 Dynamic

No Compression

EQ bypassed

Stomp: Screamer

Drive: 50%

Gain: 75%

Tone: 50%

Mod: Phaser

Speed: 0.10Hz

Feedback: 60%

Mix: 85~90%

Config: PRE <= important!

Delay: OFF

Reverb: Brite room

Pre: 40%

Decay: 60%

Tone: 50%

anyone know what part of matt's effects he uses for the solo of sfa, and the synth sound of SS?

SFA = Fuzz, Wah, Delay

SS = (I presume you mean the synthy guitar sound), it's a combination of a Synth going through a Wah pedal and a distorted guitar, the sounds were combined using some software, which I can't remember the name of, I'm sure I've posted the name of it on here before.

And the solo isn't a Phase90 or a model of it, sounds nothing like it, I imagine it's just the synth+wah thing being played around with, also I believe they use JP-8000's, could have just used the Envelope on there, or the built in Phaser, which you can completely control via MIDI (Set the tempo, then programme how long it takes the phaser to go through the sweep, ranging from a 32th note I think to 8 bars I think).
