Sing For Absolution appreciation thread

This song needs more love. First Muse song i ever heard, still has that specialness that I can't seem to wear out  The pino in the beggining...the chorus...the solo...what more can you ask for?

I used to be so bored with this song, and then I watched the Absolution DVD and I was sold. This is really one of the best Muse songs, and it hits you hard in a different way than all of the "ballsier" Muse songs. The final minute is some of the best stuff Muse have ever done. It is definitely one of the best "ballads" the band has ever done. Much better than Blackout, Unintended, etc. Why isn't there enough appreciation? It surely deserves it.

I actually think that Blackout is certainly up there with S4A. The ending is just intense, as the distorted guitars rise up and complement the violins so nicely. That melody is amazing, as well.

I'm realizing that I love the live SFA much more then the studio cut. Particularly from Glastonbury & HAARP. Especially in HAARP, I like the guitar effects over the main melody line leading into the 2nd verse in the HAARP performance, I believe a new wrinkle. Matt is always doing things like that for the fans, to keep the music fresh.

Sing For Absolution is beautiful in so many ways. The verses are so seductive while the chorus is full of longing and resolve. The piano is what pulls it all together and the distorted guitar at the end shows that while the majority of the song may be slow and quiet compared to most of their songs, the meaning and emotion behind it is still as strong as any other "loud" song they have. This will always be a favorite of mine.

But I actually think the live versions from 2004 Glastonbury or 2007 Wembley are equal or better then the studio version. I love what Matt does with the guitar effects over the main melody line to heighten the drama.
