I'm too angry to use the search function.

I've loved muse for years now and joined this forum about a year ago after I found it. I'm PISSED about the film soundtracks muse has been contributing to.

Twilight was a stab to my heart. Letting Twilight use supermassive blackhole was guaranteed to bring thousands of senseless teenage vampire lover wannabees into the fanbase...no...THEY CANT EVEN BE CONSIDERED FANS

Here's one example of a post I found on a Facebook Muse group:

Mimi CULLEN wrote

at 10:25am on February 14th, 2009

SUPPER MASSIVE BLACK WHOLE!! my favourite song!

For those of you who have been lucky enough to avoid the twilight fad, Cullen is the last name of the dream boy vampire character that girls are orgasming to. THIS IS JUST ONE PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE KIND OF PEOPLE I AM ASSOCIATING MYSELF WITH WHEN I SAY IM A MUSE FAN. I HAVE TO GO OUT OF MY WAY TO EXPLAIN THAT I HATE TWILIGHT AND EDWARD CULLEN AND ALL HIS VAMPIRE BUDDIES. IF ONE MORE PERSON ASKS ME IF I SAW TWILIGHT BECAUSE IM LISTENING TO MUSE I SWEAR...

And today as I was sitting down to watch Friday The 13th, Take A Bow starts playing during the preview for The Watchmen. I'm excited about the Watchmen, but this just means that were now also going to have Watchmen fanboys rant about how great Take A Bow is.

STOP THIS MUSE.

What you're doing is taking a collection of fine/rare coins (we fans) and throwing in a pile of pennies (Twilight/Watchmen fanboys/girls) and going "at least we have more coins in our collection"

NO...IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MANY COINS ARE IN YOUR COLLECTION IF THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF USELESS PENNIES.

First off, i'm fine with Watchmen fans becoming Muse fans, because they're far less fan-girlish than Twilight fans. Secondly, I agree that Twilight sucks (and the movie was even worse), and that I hate when I say "Muse is my favourite band", and people say "oh, isn't that the Twilight band?". Grr.....

Still, though, maybe someone will find out about them through Twilight and end up liking them purely for the music, so it could do some good.

I get where you're coming from, it is annoying having random fangirls claiming they love Muse when they only know about 13 seconds of ONE song of theirs... but you're only going to get a bunch of people telling you to get over it!

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter all that much tbh. These fangirlys and Twatlight lovers can claim they fucking invented Muse if they want to, we all know it has no substance! And as long as you know you're a true fan that recognises and appreciates Muse for their music and not because they featured in some shite film, then who cares what other people think?!

The Twatlight lovers will eventually forget Muse even exist when their next fad comes along..which will probably be the next Jonas Brothers single or something !

Anyhow, this'll probably get locked for the sheer volume of Twilight/Muse related threads we've had since like November last year haha..but just thought I'd include my bit. :p

oh and LOL at Supermassive Black WHOLE! Ai wellll luv vat chooon! :awesome:

This exactly.

They will attach themselves to whatever fad they are told to like next.

Those pennies will get spent eventually, but you always keep the rare coins. :)

Join to the club. There are loads of Twatlight haters here, I include myself there, and I'm proud. Twilight is the worst thing that has ever happened to Muse. I don't care that "everyone has to know about the band somehow", "there are lots of intelligent Twilighters", "don't mind us", "you don't like Twilight because you haven't read it", and so forth. They are ruining Muse reputation and that's something that won't change.

But, you know what? I don't care about Watchmen. It seems more intelligent (less retard, if you compare it to Twatlight) and I don't thing its fanboys are going to react like some rabid twilighters. The root of the problem is not the movie; the core of this stupid movement is some annoying woman called Stephenie Meyer. She spread all over the web that she LOVED Muse, the band was her inspiration, nothing would have been possible without them, and bla bla bla. After four books' knowledgements and a unique dedication, look where we are. She really thinks she is Muse's biggest fan

I agree with hyper_chondriac_muser, Twilighters will eventually forget that Muse was in Twatlight. But Muse's reputation has been damaged anyway. Oh! I almost forget it! Meyer says that no Twilight project will be complete without Muse, so I guess we have to bear another three movies :)

I hate when I have to see that some edward'slover luuuuvvss THE MUSE, among others, like Jonas Brothers, Panic At The Disco, Paramore, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Metro Station. I feel like eating my computer.

I hope this doesn't get closed. I really need a Twatlight bashing thread :awesome:

I don;t think the whole Twilight thing has ruined Muse's reputation. Teh Meyer has the right to say whether she was inspired by them as a novelist, I think its cool, regardless of the quality of the books, which is somewhat patchy.

Little girls getting excited by Muse cos of the movie and books...so fucking what. They'll get bored and get excited about something else soon enough.

I've always thought this hatred for little Meyer fans is somewhat unfair, and a bit sexist. So because girls are getting all fangirl squee about something, its retarded, but its okay for boys to be all fangeek obsessed with bloody Star Wars or comic book films, which are just as fantastical and silly as stories about hot vampires? Think about it, double standard people

I first heard of Twilight because of Muse, so I figured I'd check the book out, thinking it would be interesting and maybe even a great book, since the writer was inspired by Muse.(I didn't read any reviews or anything.) I was disapointed to say the least and quit reading it about half way through. I did see the movie but only because Muse had a song in it. I was not impressed and thought the movie was boring, lame and nothing special. I want to support Muse but I'm not investing any more of my time or money in anything Twilight related. :indiff:

Ugh. There was a comment on Muse's Youtube channel that said 'alicegurl376' or something like that, she'd said 'Supermassive Black Hole = My FAV SONG!!!!'

I just got really pissed off at that.

I can't help but get annoyed at it...but it is kind of irritating, these Twilight fan girls saying Muse are their favourite band, when they've only heard SMBH.

I started reading Twilight, I got halfway through the third book and nearly lost the will to live. Also, I was sat in the cinema with my friends, after reading the first book (before I'd decided it was complete and utter shite) and all these fang girls behind me were screaming every time someone knew came onto the screen, or laughed hysterically whenever said something not even remotely funny. I was sat in my chair, sinking lower and lower, thinking, 'Why the hell am I watching this film?' I'm ashamed at even attempting to read them and watching the film...

The only thing that stopped me from walking out was SMBH.

It's hilarious when people sincerely think they're better "fans" than others.

Oh btw, everyone who hasn't joined this messageboard pre 2005 is an IDIOT and a NOOB. I hate them and EVERY TIME I WALK OUTSIDE PEOPLE COME SCREAMING AT ME AND SAY "AMG THE MESSIGE BOARD IS GREAT I WAS IN THE FIRST TEN TO SIGN THERE BACK AT 2005".

I think I had a point there. dunno

l33tist fuckers.

Surely more fangirls means muse make more money, means they keep working, means they keep knocking out the albums and tours and we get to enjoy the muse ride for longer...? No?

Why do people feel they have the right to demand what products/films the band they like do or do not attribute their name to? So you don't like whatever this twilight thing is... so fucking what, I don't like tellytubbies but I wouldn't spend all day pissing and whining about it if muse rewrote the tellytubbies theme tune (how cracked up would that be?!)

When I first saw the title, I thought it was about the Rage intros.

I haven't seen Twilight, and probably won't. At school, most the Twilight likers already liked Starlight so I dread to think what the reputation is now. I'm probably one of few people at school who has listened to all 4 Muse albums, and that is a bit of a shame really.
