BigGeorge
This is sorta what they were aiming for with Defector but this time nailed it.

Zepp
Defector's solo is awesome, it's just the verses that are rather bland. But yeah apart from that I agree
Jobby
“The truth is that when I am killing in order to survive I have never felt so alive” Edit: also, is this easily the most ‘stereotypical Muse’ song ever? (not a criticism)
OriginOfAbso
“The truth is that when I am killing in order to survive I have never felt so alive” Edit: also, is this easily the most ‘stereotypical Muse’ song ever? (not a criticism) People keep saying that, but idk it sounds different for me. Not as different as BITM or something, but it still has a very 80's sound to it and doesn't remind me much of other Muse songs right off the bat. Not as different as BITM or something, but it still has a very 80's sound to it and doesn't remind me much of other Muse songs right off the bat. It’s the heavy synth arpreggio use, driving triplet beat, piano pre-chorus, chuggy down-tuned chorus w/ falsetto, whammy-play shreddy solo, Queen backing vocals, big “beeeee the best” lyric belts.... BigGeorge
Yeah I wouldn't call it "Muse by numbers" but it's definitely a lot of their stereotypes over the years.
JessicaSarahS
Edit: also, is this easily the most ‘stereotypical Muse’ song ever? (not a criticism). I had the same thought. It's definitely a Muse by numbers song, but I enjoy it. It's like a mashup of KoC, Survival, & USoE.
Howardm93
Farrrrrrk... that solo though.
That Little Animal
I keep zoning out before the solo hits. I had to deliberately skip to it to give it a proper listen.
blubb0r
the chorus reminds me somehow of exo part 2...

MartianSpaghettiRider
The line "These blockades must fall down" reminds a lot of "Break this walls down" from COD, both lyrically and musically speaking.
Citizen_Eraser
Just imagine the hype fest if this was the first single ever released in Dig Down's place.

Saint Rockwell
Just imagine the hype fest if this was the first single ever released in Dig Down's place. I would've pre-ordered the album as opposed to waiting for it to leak
hyena17
It's the Musiest Muse song that ever Mused. Probably why I like it:LOL: Seriously, it was my favorite on the first listen, may not stay in that spot for long but it felt familiar but new and awesome at the same time. Citizen_Eraser
Same. I have zero complaints about it. Oddly for the rest of the songs I've listened to the weird stuff like BITM, Propaganda and GUAF more than The Void and Algorithm.

Citizen_Eraser
Sounds like 'be the best' to me I thought so too but it sounds like the backing vocal is enunciating a T on Beat.
Nature2
It's a great song but I dislike the drumming in the verses. I felt like the synth melody form the beginning was going somwehre, but it ended up being covered by generic drums. Other than that I loved it.
