frutiger75
This has been bugging me all week and I’ve finally just sussed it - the riff that underpins the Propa-propa-propa-propa-ganda robot riff bit is Around The World by RHCP. Yes. I've imagined the opening scream from that song after the propaganda riff from the start. Propa-propa-propa-propa-ganda - Aaaaaeeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaaeaeaaooooh! meanwhile, upon further review, i find that overall song structure strangely similar to BITM. interesting find. Not a bad riff to be quoting. That's a great song.

I'm a bit confused; what timestamps of Around The World do you mean?
Clunge
Literally the opening few seconds, Flea’s bass riff.
odier
I can hear clearly in the second robot riff (acoustic version).
Jobby
I don’t really hear it tbh, I can see the loose comparison but I don’t think it’s close enough to connect them too much
InsertCreativeNameHere
I'm really shocked at the reaction to this song. I thought people would hate it. The robot voice is incredibly irritating.

Clunge
And as a fellow bass player, I’d also have to respectfully disagree. It’s def there in the acoustic version.
frutiger75
The robot voice is incredibly irritating. it makes the song somewhat unique and provides an interesting change of pace in the context of the album.

I mean they both hammer on a tone up from the initial note but other than that i don't really hear it
MartianSpaghettiRider
I was recently listening to Depeche Mode's album Ultra (1997) and a good part of its sound has reminded me of Propaganda, even though it's much more brooding and bleaker. Needless to say it made me love this song even more.
