I like this. The Madness synth bass idea was worth revisiting. Best lyrics since T2L, or maybe Dead Inside. It's sleek and slick and Princey, in a good way. Not the greatest thing they've ever done, but a great addition to my summer soundtrack. I know a number of Muse fans outside of this board who will likely be thrilled they're going in this direction.

Well, the song. Had one listen and thought wtf.... It's kinda good, then kinda bad ... gospel reminds me of George Michael :( "Freedom" U2 is in there, Queen... then the guitar break, yeah! And then?

No song for me, but it could've been worse.

The chorus is totally Freedom, it's the first thing I thought of when I first listened to it. It's grown on me, and I like the layers it has leading up to the end.

T2L has aged well I think, so I'm optimistic if they wanna go that route again.

Yes!

:D

Btw, as I started this thread with that "wrong" title I had to change it, you know. (Others only complain but take no action...)

My point isnt necessarily about this song in general. You guys hate every single thing they do and expect everything to be shit. I'm just really confused why you guys bother anymore. All thst comes through on here is negativity and it sucks. I'd love to be more active here, but its a real cesspool.
Except you clearly don't spend any time here since you missed that the general consensus here when T2L was released was that it was better than The Resistance, and that the tour was one of the best they had done in a long time. Then Drones came and that got mixed reactions. The Handler and Reapers were universally loved, Dead Inside was loved by loads of people, Psycho had a lot of fans even though many considered it to be too long, and people were anticipating the live debut of Defector for months.

And it's kind of hypocritical to come here to complain about negativity, only adding to it. It happens at every release. A third is love, another third is hate, and the final third are people hating on the hate. Because that sure solves the problem. All you're doing is adding to the negative vibe you're experiencing. Come with some positivity instead of you wanna make a change. Or did you just come to whine, like those you're accusing?

The more I listen to 2nd Law now, the more I apreciate it. It's a really decent album apart from two songs. Even Unsustainable sounds badass to me now. Animals is a classic.

Unsustainable was totally bonkers live, amazing intro followed up by that sweet Supremacy riff.. I'm not a fan od T2L but as Tjet pointed out - the tour itself was awesome. And I got to hear Sunburn live <3

So that part of the song has synth bass and no guitar. Matt is singing quietly and in an easy range, like in Madness, and Chris is harmonising a bit higher. Morgan's adding another layer of vocal harmony and playing across a few octaves, probably a pad or strings. Dom's playing a fairly relaxed beat as well.

Basically it's looking like a mid tempo pop song.

I was right! Even the lyrics are pretty much what I expected

By the way, people earlier were talking about possible setlists combos... just imagine: you went to Muse gig hoping to hear CE, Assassin, SS, Handler, you name it. And then you get setlist like this:

1. [JFK]

2. Dead Inside

3. Dig Down

4. Revolt

5. Follow Me

6. Interlude

7. Madness

8. Mercy

9. Uprising for lols

10. Panic Station

11. Big Freeze (live debut yay!!)

12. 1 minute of Fury but the power cuts out

13. Undisclosed Desires

14. Man with a Harmonica

15. Guiding Light

Btw on the subject of negativity, here are the original reactions to when we first heard Supremacy and Animals:

And even Panic Station, even though the reactions was just slightly more mixed:

I'd rather listen to new material in the style of Supremacy or Animals.

10. Muse’s new song “Dig Down” will be featured this summer on the CW, as part of the network’s on-air and digital marketing campaign. The upfront marked the first-ever live performance for the single.

When hope and love has been lost and you fall to the ground

You must find a way

When the darkness descends and you're told it's the end

You must find a way

When God decides to look the other way and a clown takes the throne

We must find a way

Face the firing squad, against all the odds

You will find a way

Dig down

Dig down

Dig down and find faith

When you're close to the edge

With a gun to your head

You must find a way

When friends are thin on the ground and they try to divide us

We must find a way

We have entered the fray and we will not obey

We must find a way, yeah

Dig down

Dig down

Dig down and find faith

When they've left you for dead and you can only see red

You must find a way

Dig down

Dig down

Dig down, find faith

We won't let them divide, We will never abide

We will find a way

Dig down

Dig down

Dig down

Faith

Dig down

Dig down

Faith

From the reactions of the song, it fits perfectly with the vibe of the CW network, and the audience they seem to want to cater to.

Need vids stat!

It's basically an inhouse/press meeting, isn't it? Not very likely a video is going to come out of that.

A lot of big companies do stuff like that.
