thtguyoverthere
kev.....i assume you have to have some kind of programming knowledge to tinker with the site right? Knowing anything about matlab? Or more specifically how to make this infinite loop i'm stuck in go away that doesn't involve rebooting my computer or ctrl alt delete?

Velouria
Awesome work with Bertha, Kev. Was there copious use of the DELETE statement? Damn, I miss database nerding. I don't have enough of it to do at home.

I don't have enough of it to do at home. heh luckily all the DELETE statements were automated, lord only knows how many queries were run the other night must have been in the 30 or 40 thousands, i'm not sure why it's quite so many seems to take like 10 queries to delete a thread, next time i'll investigate. the fun bit was optimizing the tables cos they're too big for the OPTIMIZE query to not crash bertha so i have to do it via command line on the files directly instead

Black Mamba
Dear Kev, I might use a gif for my signature but you might ask me to take it down like it happened in 2006. What shall I do? is big gifs still an issue for Bertha?
Zaphod Chizzlebrox
Dear Kev, I might use a gif for my signature but you might ask me to take it down like it happened in 2006. What shall I do? is big gifs still an issue for Bertha? I'm guessing it's not really a bertha issue as images are usually hosted on other websites and merely linked to, but the size limit is designed to stop people with slow connections who don't want to turn images off from having to wait ages for a page to load. I had nearly a megabyte of images in my sig once, and imagine how long they took to load after several posts on the same page

Ace. I always had to be careful about when I scheduled optimization jobs on our accounting databases because they took ages and locked tables, interfering with backups and other jobs. kev
The post was almost 8000 characters over the limit how much do you want me to cut off? oh ha well all i was going to do was search for that url that it mentions on the malware page, so instead could you just go to view page source then search it (ctrl + f) for that malware url and if it finds something paste me like 10-15 before it to 10-15 lines after. but i expect the search will fail

kev
ah yes it has to be that! have you set your view to be more posts per page than normal then? cos it appears on page 3 for me which explains why i couldn't replicate the problem at all or find any references in the code for the requested page. oh well i'll delete that image so other chrome users aren't affected.
