Seriously, though, it's always weird how the Showbiz stuff gets a free pass.

 

It gets a free pass, because half of it is incredible and touching and the other half even Muse likes to forget. Let us forget together.

I've never even been as fond as some of the big favorites from Showbiz as it seems I should be (HTAILY, MM, Cave, Uno.)

 

I do find GL touching, if a bit grandiose.

Something Matt said during that Deezer interview, about Queen being unafraid to by extravagant, make 'big emotional' songs that others might find embarrassing really struck me.

I'm a sucker for that sort of stuff, apparently.

I mean they certainly aren't awful- just annoying. Defector is repetitive (I know Pyscho is too but I quite like the bite of the song a bit more) and the lyrics are not great. Aftermath starts strong and just goes way to over-the-top at the end- it ruins it unfortunately.

Overdue and Guiding Light are more fun to listen to than Psycho, Revolt, Aftermath, Drones, Mercy and I'll throw in Save Me and Liquid State.

Revolt is more fun to listen.. If the word is fun, Revolt easily tops any songs

Weird, I feel the opposite about Showbiz. None of the songs are particularly bad and none are amazing IMO. With the exception of maybe Muscle Museum, but there's many Muse songs I prefer over it.

Wow. I am relatively young in my Muse fandom, so I only discovered Showbiz the album within the last few months, but Showbiz the song not amazing? It is probably in my top 5 or so Muse songs. I must be the only Muse fan that thinks OOS is a little overrated and Showbiz a little underrated. I honestly didn't get around to listening to Showbiz for a while because I thought I would compare it unfavorably to other albums, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Used to love Showbiz the song but I don't really feel the urge to listen to it anymore. I mean I think Showbiz is a really good album but pales in comparison to OoS for me. (the first 8 songs are perfect)

 

As for Drones, I'm still not sure if I've made my mind up on it. Some days I love it, sometimes I think it's one of their worst. Keeps up the trend since BH&R of being incredibly inconsistent.
