I dunno about the mojo bit. Overall it seems very tame. Reminds me of how I felt about The Resistance compared to the hype, actually.

Constantly being a dickhead seems like a pretty good reason to me, but I digress.

 

Reapers keeps getting better with every listen. It's the most gonzo thing they've done in ages.

Globalist seems rather jumbled. Like bits of three songs stitched together. As for the title track, it's quite pretty but I don't think it really achieves anything.

 

Overall, the album's playing it very safe indeed, and I can't begin to take the concept seriously.

But the balls out rock moments on the album are a lot of fun, far more fun than anything on TR or T2L.

I just wish those moments didn't feel so reined in.

Not sure I agree. Reapers is pretty full on, The Handler is fairly spectacular, etc. Which bits do you think feel limp?

 

Off the back of the last two albums, it feels much fresher to me.
