Asmodius Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Ridiculous how people say Glorious when it's definitely more Starlight than anything. Same, it sounds nothing like GLorious. It sounds like Starlight with Explorers
HomesickSubterranean Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 But is it better? After first listen I don't think so bc Starlight has really good dynamics. Maybe the studio version of Mercy might have more drastic production though
Asmodius Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 But is it better? I'd say it's better because its new, but it would pretty much be even if they came out at the same time the chorus is better than starlight's
jonisdead Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 But is it better? This sounds like something that the crowd could enjoy more without cringing. It's very melodic, the bassline draws you in though without a doubt.
kueller Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Ridiculous how people say Glorious when it's definitely more Starlight than anything. And this is why no one should trust fan descriptions. Hearing the song now.
jonisdead Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 And this is why no one should trust fan descriptions. Hearing the song now. I trust descriptions. Most of the others were accurate. It's just when people start busting out song title comparisons it's stupid. Obviously a different song won't sound like "x" song unless it's a rip off of the same exact structure.
Citizen_Eraser Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Same, it sounds nothing like GLorious. It sounds like Starlight with Explorers Fuck. Those are 2 of my top 3 worst muse songs. The other song isn't guiding light or nsc either lol.
BigGeorge Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 It's very Starlight. Huge chorus, good vocals, but not "dark" at all lol. Maybe lyrically but I can't make out much.
jonisdead Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 It's very Starlight. Huge chorus, good vocals, but not "dark" at all lol. Maybe lyrically but I can't make out much. Lyrical content is dark, but you know Matt. He can focus on one "dark" element and yet the rest of the song won't correlate lol. But this is a solid nugget of pop. No clue why this wasn't their first single...
Asmodius Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 So this is my first listen review. It sounds actually really good and nice, the problem is that Matt hyped it as a dark heavy song. The bass beat is quite litterally an inverse sounding riff o the Starlight bass riff. Where you get starlight going DUN DUN DAH, this one is DA DA DUN. Vocals are Starlight and Explorers sounding. All in all its not bad, but its just dissapointing after they say back to basics and its not
aleluman Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Where is the song? I tried to find it myself but can't
Hirzer Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Me too pls, or could anyone upload it on vimeo? thanks a lot
HomesickSubterranean Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 This should've been the 2nd track released
Redwingsrock Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Could someone please send me the link to the track as well? Thanks!!
kueller Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I trust descriptions. Most of the others were accurate. It's just when people start busting out song title comparisons it's stupid. Obviously a different song won't sound like "x" song unless it's a rip off of the same exact structure. Guess I meant comparisons rather than general descriptions. Really sounds like a standard anthemic song. Maybe leaning a bit on the BH&R cheesy side (that's where the Glorious comparisons came from I guess). Who said it wasn't pop?
Citizen_Eraser Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 To compare to the new songs Pycho 6/10 Reapers 5/10 Dead Inside 6/10 Mercy 4/10.
BigGeorge Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 This should've been the 2nd track released I totally agree, this should have been the lead single over Dead Inside. I like it, but after seeing Psycho I grew a huge appreciation for that song so I'm going to say this is probably my least favorite song we've heard so far. Reapers>Dead Inside>Psycho>Mercy for me.
Hedrigall Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Is anyone else hearing synth arpeggios like the ones from Bliss, FAWY and SS in the pre-chorus and chorus?
Asmodius Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 If I had to rate the songs right now: Dead Inside: 5/10 Psycho 6/10 but 10/10 live Reapers: 8/10 Mercy: 5/10
