Still the best non guitar picture I've ever seen on here

Someone else has uploaded it thankfully. I really need to see them live again :facemelt:

It's because we can all relate to it.

I saw that, but the sound quality on the original upload was quite a bit better. And you should, especially if it's at an arena. I prefer smaller shows in general, but of the four times I've seen them, MSG was the best. It didn't include the insanity that the first two shows had, but still...

Certainly seems that way.

It seems like they haven't fully got the message about all these innovations.

Bringing that one back was a good move, but why the stupid logos? Those were on instruments older than the 50s LPs from what I understand. Certainly not on the original SGs.

I could live with the logo on the back - the headstocks seem to break in that location anyway, so there's room for improvement. The one on the front that everyone will see... not so much.

I actually quite like the look of that, better than most stuff they've put out lately. But that neck looks like it'll snap the headstock off if you look at it wrong! Guess they're stuck in a hard place, as any changes they make will be rejected by the hardcore purists, even if they improve the product. I for one would have no issues reducing the headstock angle for example.

Yeah definitely. Thing is, with that SG for example, the actual guitar is pretty much what a hardcore purist would want... the spec is all there... it's just minor things like those logos and other ridiculous 'innovations.' The smallest thing could be a turn off for said hardcore purist, so why not leave it? All the other guitars have the standard logo, which is what people are going to expect. I think they're more likely to lose sales by changing it.

On a side note, it looks like there was also a price increase. I swear those were $1299 the other day, which is a bit much to begin with... I quite like that black LP classic with the P90s, but I figure they raised the price on that as well...

Is it too late then? Seems like they just want to drive the brand into the ground faster to put it out of its misery.

Also, royal blood are playing a show here with turbowolf. Really tempted to get a ticket for this one... especially after hearing some of the new material

Quite like those songs. Don’t think I’ve listened to turbowolf before but will definitely check them out now!

And those new Gibsons look pretty horrible.

I meant about the gig, but I guess the answer is obvious.

As for turbowolf, you should definitely check them out, yes

Apparently Royal Blood Mike is featured on one of the new songs? Not sure, only read that yesterday.

I actually think they're pretty smart looking. If they were made by someone like Fano, people would be queuing up to buy them. I think the negativity stems from people wanting Gibson to only make vintage Les Paul, 335's etc.

Yeah true. I would imagine a similar guitar by a smaller company would be cheaper, but also built better.

I guess people don't want innovation when they want a Gibson. I know I don't... especially since they can't do it properly.

Remember that time they tried to build a computer into a jazzmaster?

Oh right, haha, you should get a ticket!

The main thing with those double cuts that I don't like (apart from the slightly dodgy choices of colours) is the headstock looks weird with the body shape. A firebird or maybe explorer shape headstock would suit it better.

I agree. If you want an expensive, innovative double cut, get a PRS.

Edit: I think the problem with Gibson and Innovation, is that it seems to just make things'different' not better. Contrasted with the aforementiined PRS, who work on incremental improvements to fundamentally sound designs. Givson seem to want to mess with stuff instead of fixing what they already do.

yeah that

What do you make of that news about irn bru?

I was going to link you to an article that seemed reputable, and generally this would be a good source

...until I read the description of the taste. But what do you expect?

Exactly. Worst part is that they get rid of the good designs and replace them with these innovations.

I'm curious to see if there's any difference, so will have to keep a few bottles of the original bru for comparison. Pretty amazing that it's in the news though

Save some for me. I won't be over for another six months... all of the original type will be gone by then!

Also, where is Macaroon? I know he hasn't posted recently, but surely we would have heard from him after this sad state of affairs, just so we know he's safe? :stunned:

Maybe he’s busy stockpiling all the irn bru.

Some of those look terrible in a really good way.
