X3RICK001
What was the music knowledge of Matt when he started Muse?
kueller
Not too sure what you mean. He had piano lessons from what I remember and was close to the school's music teacher (I assume some classes were taken there).

SourceNRG
Actually I've always wondered what his background/training was on the piano. I guess I never have known....
X3RICK001
did he know how to read music? Also, how does he make music?
Hat
did he know how to read music? Also, how does he make music? Not really. Usually he comes up with stuff on the piano first, then plays it on the guitar if he thinks it might sound better. Or it comes up when the band jams. Nipso
I think he intends to write songs for the guitar, but finds composing easier on the piano. Not sure if that's how he comes up with string arrangements though.

serpentsatellite
Actually I've always wondered what his background/training was on the piano. I guess I never have known.... I read that he once said he watched his brother's piano lessons, and once the brother gave up, he experimented with it on his own when he was really young; playing TV show theme songs, and such. And that once his parents divorced, he really started playing seriously. Don't remember ever reading if he took lessons at any point, or not, but it wasn't mentioned in that particular article. kueller
He also did the thing with the TV though. I think that was sort of his introduction.
serpentsatellite
Do you remember if he said at what point he took them? The interview I remember he didn't say he did, and I'm actually curious at what point he did.
