stefko_25
Guitarplayer, you're talking yourself into a corner here. cutemuse
thx:happy: And obviously I wasn't referring to you but today's joiners;) (who participated for 60% when I posted that) Off topic but I must say that your sig's first movie clip is simply the best Yeah and back to topic.. First when I heard Muse, Matt's "breathing" wasn't so nice to hear, and my dad don't like it at all, but now I'm already used to it.

Johanna
No, but there's a breath after almost every word, so... And don't overdue it, you'll scare the neighbours I don't have any neighbours. I'm in the countryside. Seriously 'though, I must admit when I wasn't a fan yet back in 2001 I used to find his voice a bit strange. But that's when I used to like boring, simple, ridiculous music for the masses. I grew out of that and started to listen to more different and unique bands and finally found Muse in 2003. Funnily enough the main reason I first became a fan was Matt's singing technique. I can't explain it, the voice just hit something inside of me and caused me to adore Muse ever since. After that came the melodies and the riffs and the lyrics, and the drums and the bass. And Matthew's multitalentism. His singing voice is such that you either hate it with passion or adore it from the bottom of your heart. I'm part of the latter group. The voice is what makes Muse. In my opinion, its just about perfect.(breathing, wailing and all the rest included)

Fine now though lol
guitarplayer
Guitarplayer: Do you carry a personal grudge towards Matthew? If you do, please keep it out of this forum. You're comments get more and more insulting and depressing, this thread should have never been started. If you really hate Matt so much go slag him off elsewhere. Really, it's not cool to insult him in an official forum. The way he sings should not be changed, it's one of the reasons what makes Muse special and different from the mass. I can't think of any other singer who could control his voice as perfectly as Matt does, who could pull off those high notes and make them a fourth instrument of the band, to add the unique sound to their music with it. Only Matthew Bellamy can pull off a singing voice like this. He uses it with such confidence I've never seen/heard before. Not only would this thread insult Matthew, it insults me deeply as a fan. Why did you feel the need to start this thread? What do you have against him Insulting and depressing?!?! I was just saying my opinion, not trying to insult Matthew ( which I didn't do accidentally). I still am a big fan and hope that I can get over his breathing, which is pretty hard for me to get over( but I will manage;) personal grudge..........................................................................lol Hate Matt? Where did that come from Trust me, Matt is a great singer, but there are other singers, with alot more control, and possibly more confidence ( I dont really know how good of a singer Matt thinks he is, so I cant say what his confidence level is.) Im sorry if my comments insulted and you, but you really shouldn't get wound up over comments on the web, especially when thier not even mean. The reason for the thread was to see what others thought about it, and if anyone knew why he breathes like that. Plain and simple as that.
Megglen
Even men find his voice orgasmic. He must be doing something right. "That chick has a great voice. It's a guy? Whoah, there goes my erection. I apologise to the singer - I guess I'll not be asking him out on a date now but he sounds real good. When I listen to his voice I feel like someone is tickling my penis with a feather." Ahem... *cough cough* (had to revive old post)
iwantamanson
he breathes that heavy because he has to bellamy sings from the stomach, and it requires large intakes of breath being exhaled at a rapid pace the first thing about muse i noticed is that they dont edit out there breathing where as most artists do these days, i dont really notice it anymore, its all just part of his vocal style. InsertCreativeNameHere
I was listening to In My World a while back and my mum came in and said 'what the hecks that your playing?' So I asked her wht was wrong with it and she said 'The singer keeps going *loud inhalation*' So it must be quite noticable, I hardly hear it though. There is nothing wrong with your opinion you were just picking up on what Matt does because lets face it he DOES do it. It's the same as saying.. Matt plays the guitar. It's not exactly an opinion is it? Because it's something personally to do with Matt fans get wound up about it and will deny it does that because they think you're insulting their precious singer. You're not at all. However if you said "Why does Matt sing like a ferret on helium?" That's a different story
Lizzie310
whenever my mum or i listen to muse my dad is always like "it sounds like he is having an asthma attack" i like the way he breathes, it makes them sound unique, and it's not annoying at all

Johanna
I grew to love their music. No I don't think any of them are "perfect" or "Gods". They're only humen. But I've grown to really love the singing technique because I've never heard anything like it before. No, I don't think they are Gods. I think they are talented musicians who are too underrated. I hate the word "guitar God". I don't think that's what Matthew is. I believe he is someone who found his own personal style with singing and playing the guitar, a style that simply works. He was born with the singing voice, it's used with an amazing amount of confidence, and in my opinion it's the best singing voice in our universe. The extreme high notes, the confidence, the powerfulness, the attitude, those are the reasons why I believe Matt should be proud of his singing voice. Don't mix me up with the fangirls. I've always hated that word. It's the music that counts, never the looks.
Nimpo46
it's part of his style... i think it's excellent. i'm a little dissapointed they took it out of bhar becuase it gave the music a bit more a raw feeling.

I dont think they took it out of BHAR, he just refined his technique a little bit more. Just listen to Starlight, all the gasps are in there just much more...subtle. He's just getting more control over his voice. I'd be a little sad if it went away completely though.
EJ.
I think this thread leads to nothing. As far as i can see is, that most of us have no problems at all with Matt´s breathing. No, in the contrary, most of us even love it. I didn´t notice the breathing until someone came up with it on the forum. I was suprised about it being questioned at all. guitarplayer
Hey guys, listen to Starlight live from HAARP. Do you honestly not get annoyed by the breathing, it's so loud! It's so frustrating to love Muse.
