Bs
The issue wasn't putting songs on it for the casuals, though. They already intentionally altered the setlist in Rome for the more casual fans, for the DVD release. I perfectly understand shortening it for cinema, and while I was disappointed with their choices to cut, the only one that was mindblowing (and angering) was Unsustainable. Unless, like some have assumed, they really were unhappy with how the robot looked, there's just absolutely no reason to leave it out, and either way it's inexcusable, really. The DVD release is another issue entirely. Why NOT leave the gig intact for it? It's not a matter of cutting songs more people would know, they would still be there. And having some of the cut songs on there from arena gigs seems to add insult to injury, while STILL leaving out the few nods to longer term fans. Any way you look at it, it doesn't make sense, especially the DVD part. I'd just want the decision makers behind this to explain it cos there's no logic behind it, especially Unsustainable. I could bang on about that til I'm blue in the face, cos I'm genuinely gobsmacked its exclusion. serpentsatellite
Well, looks like it was officially Charles being "embarrassing" that got Uns cut... As if that was the only embarrassing thing that Muse has ever done... God forbid they do anything fun once in awhile, I guess. Still, cost us one of the better songs in the gig, and doesn't explain why all the other songs were cut from the DVD release.
hyper_chondriac_muser
I saw that in a Muselive post - Matt's bullshit explanation in a French interview . I left my ramblings about how pathetic it is on ML, but I'm disappointed in them tbh. He has some crazy idea, then gets bored/embarrassed by it and wants to forget it ever happened. It's a selfish decision - they haven't given the fans a single thought in terms of what we might want, considering we'll be the ones buying this DVD. It's perfectly fine to disappoint people as long as their pride is intact! I know Muse don't have a track record of pleasing fans when it comes to setlists, but to cut stuff out of a DVD cos you're ashamed by your own work is a bit sad. /melodrama

Maybe that sounds OTT but so does cutting stuff out of a DVD just cos it's suddenly embarrassing. Worse things have happened than Charles, they need to get over it

I read the interview and Its a perfectly valid explanation, very understandable. I'm fine with that. Now, give us Map and Blackout as download or whatever and i will be a happy muser again. Finn.
Really? I think it's still 100% dumb No, they did that thing and now they don't feel confortably artistically with the concept or with the execution. Fine.
forevermusic
Is there a link for this interview? EDIT: Found it, nevermind. It is quite funny this is the reason being used, but its still pretty dumb that this is the justification. Jobby
Now, give us Map and Blackout as download or whatever and i will be a happy muser again. Why are you desperate for Map and Blackout in particular? Fair play, Map's good but there's better performances of it out there and the T2L tour performances of Blackout are pretty shit. forevermusic
Aye T2L Blackout isn't as intense as the HAARP or Absolution Tour versions. I'm just baffled at no Liquid State or Stockholm - Unsustainable sounds like it was always gonna be cut anyway. Maybe it would've survived with no robot but whatever. FabriPav
But it's the Unsustainable Tour and the most important (concept-wise) song of the whole T2L era

First of all i like the songs, and second, would had been nice have the full gig. Unsustainable is out for Charles, Ok, Stockholm, to make the trick of the swallowing pyramid and to match the song with Unsustainable, Ok. Liquid State is probably out requested by Chris, Ok too. Those songs are in the extras at least. But i still can't find a rational reason to cut Map and Blackout. Till they do an interview explaining why are out and giving solid reasons like with Unsustainable i can't figure why. And the thing with Charles is probably not new. Probably they did the 'fan-eye' in Paris because they already had the choice made. One solution could had been made Unsustainable in Rome without Charles, and said he was with the pedal of Muscle Museum watching The Resistance Tour DVD. Edited November 2, 2013 by Finn. Sorry, but his explanation of "we don't want people watching that robot 10 years down the line" or even watching it now I guess, doesn't hold water. There IS this thing called YouTube out there... Even with all the good shit blocked in the US, I managed to see a video of the damn robot. And I'd buy the "there wasn't room on the DVD" idea... if they weren't already adding most of the songs from other gigs, and another short featurette to boot.
