Finn.
The difference is HCM actually works as a closer. If you want a quiet ending, Blackout, Megalomania or Ruled by Secrecy will be better. I don't say HCM will be bad, just the other three will be better.

matthijs
The difference is HCM actually works as a closer. Because obviously we've seen this... oh wait it's all speculative anyway, it won't ever happen.
kueller
I speculate it would be a better closer than Eternally Missed or Glorious.
matthijs
I'd never put those last anyway. The problem is, Muse is hardly a band to close like this, they are good at loud, bombastic rock. A band like Radiohead might be able to pull of Street Spirit as a closer, but I just don't think Muse could... based on all setlists ever, I don't think they ever closed with a quiet song and ended subtle. I don't say HCM will be bad, just the other three will be better. Definetly megalomania would be fae better! If I'm honest muse aren't a very intimate anyway as mentioned above they really are a throw your instruments everything on fire sort of band and closing with a soft song just wouldn't work for them. That doesn't mean closing with a softer song doesn't work for other bands though
frozenbanana
I reckon HCM would be a good closer of sorts, I would just kind of prefer to see it close either the main set or one of the encores than the whole set. As predictable as it is, getting the chance to jump around like a headless chicken during Knights or to witness the inevitable bombastic pyro/CO2 ft. screaming and feedback at the end of TaB (which would be my preferred closer) would be more enjoyable for me as a way of bringing the night to a close. And if we're talking about a club show (where the explosions and stuff would work less well) I'd still rather see SS + multiple riffs + "Chris in the crowd with a bass on his head" first, because I never got a chance to see that in 2004

Witz
Those last five songs of the main set are incredible, would love to see the transition between micro cuts to new born especially with the earls court outro seeing them slowing, then in to new born would be great, although slightly strange I have to admit it would be better if it went straight in to the guitar riff and dropped the piano part from new born. I know your missing part of the song but the surprise factor would be incredible
Boogles.
Nah, you wouldn't need to drop the piano segment, just let the feedback from the outro of Micro Cuts run for a while and then stop, leave a one second pause and then have that weird droning guitar sound Matt used to do during the Absolution era. Yeah I mean obviously the smaller gig is for the hardcore fans who know the entire back catalogue. The proper gig is supposed to be a more realistic set with Muse's catering to casuals. The proper gig is supposed to be a more realistic set with Muse's catering to casuals. Yeah the main setlist is actually still very good, it's balance of new songs and rarities is pretty bang on. Something I wish muse would do on the next tour is mix in more rarities at every show rather than doing shows every now and then that have several great songs in it, although actually this did seem to happen at the end of the last tour a bit more. How about a roulette wheel for rarities, it could work?
