ChristiaanW Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 He says in this article in Dutch. http://krant.spitsnieuws.nl/spits/_main_/2013/05/29/008/article/article5_orig.html Main points: "I love to be playing Guiding Light again this tour. The audience reaction to that song is very enthousiastic. The same for Sunburn." "We played an intimate show in London a couple of weeks ago, then I noticed that it was actually pretty awkward without a big production." "Normally we choose to close with a "bigger" song, but after such a spectacle as this stadium tour, it's good to close with a quieter song (Starlight). It creates bonding in the audience." ""After playing that intimate show I've been thinking. I'd like to do a smaller club tour." It also points out that he chooses to play guitar less on some songs, to have more contact with the audience.
unnaturalmuser Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 He'd 'bond' with us quicker if he played something we hadn't heard in ages.
unnaturalmuser Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 You want an intimate song as closer: Play SFA I still await that day
Hat Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 He'd 'bond' with us quicker if he played something we hadn't heard in ages."us" being a minority of the gig goers atm.

""After playing that intimate show I've been thinking. I'd like to do a smaller club tour." Uhm, kinda condradicting himself isn't he

Bells Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 So I was talking about this interview last night with my followers on twitter and most of them seem to think that handshakes and hugs is indeed the right way to bond with fans. I'm not proud of it but I don't like these people, they make my life as a fan and the lives of other people who think like me more difficult. Also, this is stupid and he's not playing the guitar because he's bored.
Dee3Dee Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Matt is definitely back on the shrooms. Just not the good OOS ones.

Bells Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yes, poor you and your difficult life. Life as a fan, don't be such a dick.
Jobby Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 "I love to be playing Guiding Light again this tour. The audience reaction to that song is very enthusiastic. The same for Sunburn." If that's not going full retard, I don't know what is.
kojane Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If that's not going full retard, I don't know what is. Never go full retard
Butrus Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Putting Guiding Light and Sunburn in the same sentence is a disgrace And connecting to the audience more by not playing guitar is the same story as the MM pedal and forgetting to put Animals back in the set. I bet Matt thinks that musers are insanely dumb
Dee3Dee Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I bet Matt thinks that musers are insanely dumb Well....
serpentsatellite Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Uhm, kinda condradicting himself isn't he I don't see why it's contradictory, at all. He didn't say he didn't like small gigs/venues, he said he was uncomfortable at the War Child gig. He's familiar with the large stage show, and the distractions to the audience it provides. I feel it's completely natural for him to have felt "uncomfortable" without all that background distraction and the crowds' increased focus on THEM and not the visuals. Doesn't mean that he didn't enjoy it, and couldn't have realized it was something he wanted to continue with once he got used to it. On another note... does anyone find it odd that this interview asked questions of all the things people on here have been bitching about...?
Niall Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The idea of Muse playing smaller gigs is even more ridiculous than the GL/Starlight thing. Matt, let me break it down for you. 1. People like Guiding Light the same way they enjoy watching Spider Man 3 and Batman & Robin. 2. Starlight doesn't belong at the end of gigs. It's not a big finale everyone looks forward to. Put Knights back. 3. Playing clubs is a great way to severely piss off the 85500 fans that didn't get tickets but did take the morning off work to try. 4. Play clubs is also a great way to simultaneously connect with your richest fans and fund the touts longing to milk them for all they can get.
serpentsatellite Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I, unfortunately, agree with 3 and 4 completely. I am, however, hoping if Muse don't maintain their popularity in the US, they could happen here. I fully understand I would still have to mortgage the house, though, to afford to buy the tickets from those assholes at StubHub.
Butrus Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It's not a big finale everyone looks forward to. Put Knights back. We have Survival for it, don't we?
serpentsatellite Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 We have Survival for it, don't we? On the contrary... I sort of DREADED Survival the whole gig. :'(
