2013.09.17 - Pepsi Center, Denver, CO, US

Hi there fellow fans! I hope people still read this thread. I have an extra ticket for the show here in Denver at the Pepsi Center on the 17th, and I am looking for somebody to go with me! Preferably female. I know kinda lame of me but hey I did buy it, didn't I? I am a 21 year old part time student in a culinary program and tea shop cashier. I have my own car and pay for insurance and all that junk. I am shy at first but fun to be around when fun stuff is happening... like a concert for example. I also have a good sense of humor. Not necessarily looking to make it a date, but that doesn't mean i'm not open minded about people and their thoughts. Also I don't really care what you look like, just so long as you take care of yourself. =]

Only 9 days until the big day! Hit me up!

Hmm... I'm not really familiar with the area, but I was just notified my hotel reservations were cancelled due to severe flooding.

Any info on if the event will still be going on?

And sorry to anyone impacted by this disaster. :(

I think it should be fine. It finally stopped raining today and the water is receding (at least near Boulder). Hopefully the roads will all be open by the time they get here.

I'm very glad they don't have to drive overnight through the mountains like they did last time!

I've never been to Denver.

How is traffic usually in the evenings, driving to the venue?

I won't be able to get there early and wait around, so would be driving in before doors.

I know where I live I can leave and make it through traffic and less than an hour, but it might not in, say, Chicago, it would take me like four.

Any really unsafe areas nearby an out of towner should avoid?

Traffic can suck but isn't usually bad after 7:00 or so. I would suggest staying somewhere along a light rail line and taking that to the show; there is a stop at the Pepsi Center. Traffic after the show will suck until you get to the highway. Avoid it by taking the train. If you drive, I would try to stay close to downtown to minimize your traffic concerns. Don't stay north of town; traffic is almost always bad up there. Can be bad south of town as well. West is usually OK. East doesn't have any highways.

As for really unsafe areas, not really. Stay downtown and you'll be golden. Like any city there are higher crime areas. You know them when you see them.

Flooding did not impact the area around the Pepsi Center.

Gonna be a great show!

Thanks for all the really great info.

We'll be downtown all day (if we make the drive in!) so hopefully it won't be too bad getting into the venue if we're only a mile or so away. :)

More worried about driving into the state due to weather, at this point.

I heard there was flooding downtown, but no news on the venue.

Either way, I'm going to Denver! :D

The venue looks fine (as I look out the window from my office about a block away). Cherry Creek (which runs close to the venue) flooded last week but only down in the area of the trail that runs along it. The Pepsi Center wasn't close to being flooded.

Are there any MN boardies NOT going to Denver?

Someone pick a song, and tweet-spam them that our state is coming, and wants something good.

(Glorious! But I'll settle for Bliss. :phu: )

I'd love the Rio setlist. Sounded sublime....I think Minnesotans are drawn to mountains, forests, rivers and bearded men.

Yup, once I got here, it looks nice and dry. Fort Morgan looked a bit flooded by the highway.

Saw quite a bit of flooding on the way in, but it was also really dark.

Had to get off the highway at Ft Morgan, and there were cops blocking the floodwaters. Really surreal.

Saw one really underwater town on the way in, too. Segwick, I think?

Anyways... that was a LONG drive through two entire states of cornfields and cows. :twitchy:

Looking forward to the gig tonight.

Such a great concert in my opinion. I went with seats for the first time ever for MUSE and Denver didn't have problems with people in seats being up and standing. I got to add a "bucket list live performance" off my checklist when they performed Sunburn. It was nice to hear Unnatural Selection again. Now I'm just listening to them via Ipod while I wait at the airport at 3am. Again, I had such a great time!! Also bought loads of merchandise as proceeds were being donated to flooding victims. Can't wait to see them again in 2 days!!

Muse donated the proceeds from merchandise sales at the Pepsi Center concert last night to people affected by the recent flash floods.

I don't know how much that donation will turn out to be, but I imagine it's a pretty fair chunk of change.

Considering that the band members don't spend time in Colorado when not performing, I think it's really very generous. The money will be well spent.

Thanks, guys.

Amazing night! Shout outs to everyone who stood/sat in line near me all day. Shout outs to everyone in the pit. I was on barrier on Chris's side and from my perspective we were a fantastic crowd. Jumping, singing, cheering. Way to go, guys!

I took a video of the pit during TIRO because all night you guys looked like a blast.

Actually, one of the band members does spend quite a bit of holiday time each year in Colorado, although not in the Boulder area.

Still, this is a *very* classy move on their part. Depending on attendance, merchandise sales might represent a decent part of the band's profit, so this is certainly very kind of them!

Not in Denver but close to it. I don't know the city very well though, which is why I haven't answered some of the questions to locals in this thread. I'll be in Denver a few days before the show though and don't mind stopping by the Pepsi Center if it helps to better understand the parking/queuing/will call situation

I was at the 2010 Minneapolis show too, and yeah, it was horrible. I decided not to go back in 2013, but I heard it was completely different. Were you the one that talked some sense into the Target Center people? If so you should try the same thing for Denver. Try calling the box office, the person I talked to a little while ago was helpful. I didn't ask about the pre-sale tickets, but I did ask about the queue. When I told her how early Muse fans usually line up, she actually compared us to the Justin Bieber fangirls from his recent Pepsi Center show. How embarrassing.

One thing I'm worried about is the two entrances into the building with two separate lines. Supposedly they open at the same time but some venues have a very loose interpretation of "same time" (one of the problems in Minneapolis).

Yes I was the one who talked to Target Center people. Once they understood ,they were happy to help make 2013 better. Other experienced Musers did talk to Pepsi Center staff ahead of time and the day of the gig and could not get a straight answer and, sure enough there was a clusterfuck going in through multiple doors for GA :(

But our group made barrier, it was a great show and Denver was fun, what little I saw. I just never want to drive across Nebraska to get there again!

People like Mary & Rog will have better pics, but I got lucky a few times. I also got lucky in that Matt picked up the socks I threw for him and somehow figured out I was the one who threw them!

I also really hope no one else ran into the same types of issues with the venue that the bf and I did.

When we got there, they told us our tickets hadn't arrived yet, and to come back later. Two hours before the gig, they still couldn't figure the shit out, and told us we weren't on "the list" for the 3rd party sale, even though I had my receipt and everything - told us they weren't responsible for it, and refused to help, also.

Turned out all they needed to do was talk to some lady sitting about three feet away from them to get it straightened out, but they refused to do so (or didn't know to?) Give me a break.

That on top of the sad entry procedure... Why exactly did we have to enter the floor from the top of the venue?

I felt like I was going to die of asphyxiation by the time I got in there.

Whoever told me you don't get altitude issues in Denver was not correct.

I still ended up about 4 ppl back from barrier, off to one side, which was fine, as I was too out of breath to sing along anyways. :chuckle:
