Pretty sure I posted in this thread (or one of the earlier photography threads) yeeears ago when I just started out, but since then, stuff has happened. I now work as a professional concert/ band portrait photographer, and do interviews and stuff on the side.

My website (with a selection of pictures as well as a blog with tales of meeting bands and joining tours etc) is HERE and my flickr (which gets all the pictures) is HERE. Let me know what you think?

No Muse on my website so far, have always chosen to have fun at their gigs rather than work, but am obviously hoping for interview/portrait possibilities with this new album! :D

Added you! Good stuff; what gear are you using (can't see it in your exif data?)

Just saw you're using the 6D, which is on my wishlist; how's the focus for you in low lights?

Very good. that was why I chose it over 5D MKII, it has generally better low light performance. and lower noise which is critical for me as I do a lot of long exposure shots.

Most of them are Canon 60D, but some of the early ones are Canon 30D. :) And some of them are an ancient analogue camera as well but I've no idea what the make is except that it's Pentax :p

Cool, I have the Canon 60D myself; love taking concert photos, but there was no way I could do (just) that for a living. It doesn't combine well with teaching either :chuckle:

I've just been given some budget to upgrade gear for gig shots. Thinking of investing in a 70-200 f2.8L MKII. while i've posted this in dedicated photography forums, I'll ask here as well.

Does anyone have anything against it? It seems like the 4 stop IS is a winner.

I have had the f/4 70-200 IS which was great, and now the f/2.8 IS (mark I) and it's an absolute killer lens.

I always by my lenses second hand, as I feel that they are great despite being used before. You could do that, and see if you can add the 16-35 (for example) for some wide angle loving (although you have the 17-40 right?).

My setup now is 60D, Tokina 11-16 (will keep it on FF as a 16mm prime until I can upgrade), Canon 24-70 f/2.8 (mark I), Canon 50mm f/1.4 (usually used around f/2.0) and the zoomlens.

Lenses are the most important I've noticed, and I can't really fault any of these for concert use.

Damn, Olympus' new tough compact sounds sweet. More importantly, I really hope this means the price on the old one drops some more- £250 is probably the upper end of my budget just now.

So I was at a quidditch tournament this weekend (yes, it is a real thing) and here are some photos. I'm still learning for sports photography really but I'm happy with some of the results!

In a quandary as to whether I should get the Panasonic TS5 or Olympus TG-4. Latter is better but about £100 more expensive. Then again I'll probably keep it for a couple of years long.

Olympus should've arrived today, but it hasn't been prepared for dispatch yet :( Just want it here by Friday.

Edit: got it now  Give me a couple of weeks and I should have some nice Alpine snaps.

Can't work out getting the TG-4's video mode to focus, but the photos are coming out rather nicely. Might try the RAW mode soon. These are only from facebook, so not great quality.

Nascent thunderstorm. Sadly, despite all the storms we had in the Alps I didn't manage to get any lightning shots.

Not that many. Was trying to film most of them (though the focus thing messes up and I'm not sure how to deal with it).
