Livs Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Would be good if I managed to bump into some of you. Only thing is I'm with 4 other lads and if I dragged them around the stadium looking for fellow messageboarders they'd probably lynch me Just look out for a lanky Midlander and say hello. if i see you i will say hello Please dont stand in front of me hahaha
InsertCreativeNameHere Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 if gates open at 5 what time should I arrive in time to see the first support? At Ricoh they are on at 18:15. Cant see it being too crowded for them. Theres one good thing about having a rapper supporting, they wont have endless amounts of gear to set up. There shouldnt be too long between the end of Bastilles set and the start of Dizzee's.
Libitina Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Am watching various live Muse gigs on Youtube to get me in the mood again. Can't wait!!!!
Picko Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Look for a lanky midlander's daughter and say hi Yes Hannah! Got my tickets yesterday. Happy days!
Picko Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 if i see you i will say hello Please dont stand in front of me hahaha Likewise! Can't promise that. I will most likely be moving around the crowd during the gig anyway (mosh pits, pogoing and all that shiz).
DifferentPerson Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 How acceptable is it to wear a backpack at a concert? Me and my friend will be going straight to our youth hostel from the gig, so we'll be carrying our overnight stuff with us. I have quite a small backpack, but I need to know it's against gig etiquette or something

I have quite a small backpack, but I need to know it's against gig etiquette or something I don't know how others feel but my experience of people with backpacks is particularly negative and they tend to piss off the majority of people try to use cloakrooms if they have them at the stadium
trogette Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 depends, really, if it's the small stringy kind, I've taken those but I was on the barrier so I just kept it by my feet once I was actually in. I've had more hassle with women with ridiculous handbags with massive bar handles tbh. One, if I'd been dishonest I could have had her purse or phone, or if I'd been a nasty sort I could have poured a pint in her bag, and the stupid pointy ends of the handles left bruises on my belly

I have quite a small backpack, but I need to know it's against gig etiquette or something Ehhh, it's a dodgy one. If you don't care about barrier etc then put it in the cloakroom, it will cost like £2 or something. If you insist on wearing it in the stadium then rest assured, you will piss people off. There's no way around it. It's mostly because if you're in the pit and you get pushed backwards someone small behind you may be taking a backpack to the face.

Thanks for the advice guys, we'll probably stop by the youth hostel before going to the stadium and see if we can leave our bags there. Failing that we'll look for a cloakroom
ryanp16 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Actually is anyone staying in the Isis near the stadium?

Luggage items (larger than A4 size) are not permitted in to the stadium for security reasons. Appropriate discretion will be used for ladies handbags, baby changing bags, etc. which will be subject to the standard security checks. We have a secure storage area located within the City@Home building where your baggage can be left safely and collected after the event. Please note:the space within this facility is limited and we strongly advise that you leaveany luggage at your hotel, in your car or on the coach.' From the Etihad website. Im sure youll be able to drop your bag off before
HannahG123 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 This I love the anticipation leading up to a gig I watched HAARP again the other day thought it was funny that the equivalent to where I will be sat was merely a black line in the distance that the camera only happened to show in the corner a couple of times
apoco123 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Actually is anyone staying in the Isis near the stadium? I'm in the Travelodge on upperbrook street, so I've got a tad of a walk to get to the center, then get the metro there, though I prob could walk it all... Tickets came the other day! very surprised as I had no e-mail off See to say they were sending them, that's 4/4 tickets received!
Fuse Helium-3 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I appreciate that the answer may differ from venue to venue but what would you say are the rules regarding 'larger' cameras (e.g. bigger than your average compact digital camera)? My daughter wants me to borrow one from work (SLR size) but without any hubble telescope-sized zoom!! As it won't be mine I wouldn't want to run the risk of getting it confiscated before being allowed in (do you ever get them back??).

Pocket sized personal cameras are allowed however professional equipment (or those interpreted to be so), will not be allowed. Do not bring with you any sort of audio or visual recording equipment as again, this will not be allowed in to the stadium. All pictures taken must be for personal use only and the promoter and venue are not liable for any loss, theft or damage to confiscated items." This is from a PDF from the Etihads site regarding concerts. Full thing here
InvincibleMoni Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Full thing here No alcohol for people under 25? Is this common for English stadiums? (Not that I had intended to drink any alcohol, it just surprises me. Couldn't imagine it here in Germany...)
Picko Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 No alcohol for people under 25? Is this common for English stadiums? (Not that I had intended to drink any alcohol, it just surprises me. Couldn't imagine it here in Germany...) Alcohol is allowed if you're over 18, but in the UK, to ensure that sellers aren't selling alcohol to kids under 18, they operate a '25 or under' policy in which they ID anybody who looks under 25, because lets face it, it's sometimes difficult to tell how old someone is just by looking at them. So basically, if you get ID'd and you're 18 or over, you'll get alcohol, don't worry.

ryanp16 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Got my ticket! It's so plain compared to the London one
MrsRaven Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Tickets arrived today - getting excited now!! (I still have one standing ticket to sell if anyone is interested it is on Musebay)
HannahG123 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 is it really no food or drink even water in the stadium some people will be there for over 6 hours if the gates open at 5
Rustyy Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 You will need to buy it in the stadium, Hannah... money grubbers
Libitina Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Stupid question, but we won't be standing directly on the pitch will we, they'll have covered it first won't they? I don't want to turn up in my Converse and find myself up to my knees in mud
