Dave.
On BH&R they were experimenting. On TR and T2L they were fucking around.
Alec Ferris
I feel like I'm in a minority here, but I really like Soldier's Poem. Nah, I'm with you on that.
Clunge
^^ Pretty much. There were bits of TR and T2L that worked in terms of experimentation for me though - Undisclosed Desires and Panic Station come to mind. They just don't excite me in the same way experimentation with loads of synths produces Take A Bow or brass and mariachi producing City Of Delusion. EDIT: to Dave. Alec Ferris
Re Peter's comments, I think one mad organ-based song wouldn't totally derail the idea of stripping back. Ideally it would be just organ + bass + drums + perhaps guitar.
Bumpypotato
I wouldn't mind Organ used as a backing instrument, actually.
Alec Ferris
I wouldn't mind Organ used as a backing instrument, actually. That's a good thought. Though I was basically thinking of a heavy piano song done with an organ.
kueller
I like using organs as backing.
Nipso
Worked well for Falling Down, US and Unintended, but not sure how that style would fit with a heavier sound.
Peter.
actually, I'd like to hear organs too, as I'm still not sure what this stripped back heavy rock sound actually means. (might be something really disappointing tbh) what I'm really craving for is seeing matt go crazy on the piano again. like this (from 4:42 especially. tell me that's not the most epic shit you've ever heard.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAB097ua1tc
LiT
I want organs too! Especially because Zimmer made me adore its sound more this year.
SoberCitizen
Just realised that, as far as Europe is concerned, all the YouTube videos that had been muted in the last year are back with sound... Not quite sure what to infer from that, but at least, we can watch the Freedom Outro from Rome again

tdrunner95
I feel like I'm in a minority here, but I really like Soldier's Poem. A few days ago I had to write a paper on Rupert Brooke's The Soldier, and apparently that poem was one the influences for the song. I thought that was pretty cool. Not really Album 7 related, but I thought I'd share.

LewisF
It could be an epic piano song with some orchestral parts in it. I doubt they're gonna incorporate orchestras into more than 2 or 3 songs, if that

scottycydonia
LP7 could not be that stripped back, afterall. More pics As long as the orchestral stuff is kept to a minimum I don't mind at all. I think if a muse album was stripped away too much to just guitar bass and drums it wouldn't really feel like a muse album.

matthijs
Oh thank God. More to point out that it's probably a complete lift of the type of ban put on those songs before.
