How would you change The 2nd Law?

way to misunderstand what I'm saying.

sorry I mentioned the piano part, it was just my desire, it's got nothing to do with my point:

the electro-house/dubstep/whatever part draws away attention from the beautiful vocals and harmonic progression, anything would've been better than that. It IS Nero's doing, because they did what they were asked to do. Muse are to blame for chosing to remix it in the first place.

also it doesn't suit the theme either: song for his son and all that...

It's none of your fucking business what "suits" a song that a father wrote for his son.

Again, I don't think there's a specific rule on what a father's song to his son should be like.

To the general comments about Nero remixing, the band said in the interview in that electronic magazine they scrapped the original files and then tried to make the synths sound like what they were going for in the unheard original. I don't think they would go around self-producing the whole album just to say "fuck it" with one song and hand it off to Nero. They still had a large role in the production.

no, but I still have the right to tell why I don't like it and how it could've been better, more appropriate in my opinion? also, nothing's going to change because of what I said so how about you mind your tone? swearing is just so fucking unnecessary.

Follow Me' was originally a regular-sounding rock track with normal instrumentation, then once we recorded it we replaced each instrument with electronic samples. We found sounds that mimicked the acoustic instruments electronically. It sounds like a rock band but it's all synths and samples. We used Native Instruments Battery as a drum machine, and we also created our own samples and processed them.

Not sure what exactly the process was in making the song, but it still wasn't Nero alone making the final version.

You are very welcome to think that the song is the best thing since sliced bread, the worst song Muse ever did or your future wife.

But saying that the song isn't right and isn't doing justice to the cause is just plain idiotic.

The only thing that bothers me when talking about flow between songs is Unsustainable -> Isolated System. Just fail. Especially because they belong together a bit ('The 2nd Law:').

This bugs me a lot as well. Unsustainable cuts off when it feels like it's right in the middle of something and maybe about to do something different with the track and then the soft, albeit creepy piano of IS starts up. Maybe they wanted it to be jarring like that to surprise the listener or something but it's a massive fail to me.

I was actually thinking about this as well. They feel like two songs in succession that both use the newsreader gimmick, rather than being a themetical pair.

Sometimes (during the late hours) I regard my sheer existence as a waste of time and space. But then I come to the Muse Board, and thread after thread, post after post I'm being reminded that hell, after all the shit we have to go through in our everyday lives, there's real beautiness behind it all, too. I don't need no religion, and I don't need no 20th century literature. All I need is a few clowns and then a few sharp guys reminding the clowns of what they are. There's something so human about it all... I can't put it into words.

Other than, I love You guys.

Madness and Panic Station just HAD to switch places. Do it and check how the transition from Supremacy to Panic Station is not as weird, Panic Station to Madness is cool and Madness to Survival is perfect cause if I am not wrong it is the same key.

EDIT: And I also think that Animals and Follow me should have changed places.

EDIT 2: And Big Freeze and Save Me as well - the ending distortion of Big Freeze could easily be put together with the start of Liquid State. Voila.

So, all in all ....

1. supremacy

2. panic station

3. madness

4. prelude

5. survival

6. animals

7. follow me

8. explorers

9. save me

10. big freeze

11. liquid state

12. unsustainable

13. isolated system

- Out with the blatant U2/Queen references

- More stripped-back/less OTT production - keep the horns in though, those are cool

- Get Matt to sing Liquid State. Chris's vocals seem unsuited to the song. Music could use more oomph as well

- give Survival halfway decent lyrics and a riff that's worthy of the awesome guitar tone

- make Panic Station more like the live version

- Better drop at the end of Unsustainable

- Big Freeze could use a better chorus. So could Explorers, come to think of it.

Despite all my nitpicking, I really do like the album. It's just a little frustrating that their albums seem to fall slightly short of their potential.
