SpecialAgentKit
I don't think it sounds anything like The Foos either. It's got a massive QOTSA vibe though. yeah, thats exactly what i though! if the guitar was more prominent, i'd expect it to be one of those josh homme chugging riffs
Clunge
Agreed, nothing like the Foos at all for me. QOTSA though, big nod there. Elements of Kyuss and DFA1979 too.
FabriPav
It's too creepy and haunting to be a Foo Fighters song. They really managed to deliver the message here, I think this is one of the best songs of the album.

Chryse
That's what I love about it. Oh yes, and I love the way the chorus turns into something really big and epic sounding. It reminds me the chorus to Stockholm Syndrome. Maybe not so much Stockholm Syndrome I guess, but it's that sweeping epic sound that's also in SS...if that makes any sense. Dominic.
It's good, needs to be longer though. Way too short Also instead of two songs in a row where it's just Chris, would've been cool to have a song with a mix of both Matt and Chris. During Save Me I almost forget it's Muse I'm listening to
jtf337
i'm kind of curious of what this would sound like if matt sang it. i can't really imagine it, but i'd like to hear it.
espionage
Just sounds like a generic hard rock song that a band who has made it big-time, not looking to make it big-time, has made. Could not agree more. This is definitely not a Muse-worthy song - it just sounds like a generic rock band. Bleh.
addyjoe
Think my main issue is the lack of anything at the higher frequency end of things. The bass is beefy as fuck, it really doesn't need guitar chugs and tom-based drumming along with it. Just all sounds a bit flat and messy. Would've been much better with some high trem-picked guitar or chords around 12th fret, and a drum pattern that used the ride rather than toms. Would open it up a bit more. Coco Mademoiselle
I think that is my least favourite song out of the whole album. Chris is great and all but it just doesn't sound like something they would do. It stands out too much, it doesn't really fit in with the remaining of the album at all. The voice has massively been autotuned too.

Coco Mademoiselle
It genuinely sounds too smooth. I had the hardest time figuring it out it was him singing. Not because it's the first time he's actually singing a full song but purely because something has been done to the voice and it's just too obvious to me for my liking. Victoroy
If it sounds smooth it's probably not auto tuned. Yea. Maybe they overdubbed his vocals or something but we would know if it was autotuned. It's hard to get away with that autotune sound
kueller
Cant tell right now if it's autotune or not but it is processed in a way that makes it sound rather flat. Although maybe the music not being very dynamic either could contribute to that.
absolutionamethyst
I like how Chris is also the backup singer on his own songs This Sounds fucking amazing though! Chris absolutely nailed it and the QOTSA vibe just adds so much to it. Love it!
Mitton
I'm absolutely loving Liquid State. I'm happy it isn't very catchy because every time I listen to it, it feels new. It's the gem of the album imo. Chris' voice definitely has not been autotuned too. There's no unnatural harmonics or any unnatural changes in his voice. skrillzzz1109
This song sounds 99% nothing like a Muse song, but dammit I'm loving it. 2nd favorite behind Panic Station right now. I think this song will be really badass live. Especially if they extend it.

Nipso
Should definitely be longer with a guitar solo and an extra chorus at the end. What's there is great, and one of my favourites on the album, but it feels unfinished.

What's there is great, and one of my favourites on the album, but it feels unfinished. Yeah I felt that too. Seems like the sort of song that should explode in riffage at the end, but that didn't quite happen. Still, Chris's voice is awesome. His voice (and the entire song, actually) remind me a lot of Tool

I'm pretty sure they've put some chorus (type of effect) on it. It could also be a lot of takes all layered at about the same volume but not perfectly in tune or time to create that slow shimmer. I see what you mean but I think it has a sort of dark edge that makes it a lot less generic. It certainly isn't a song you'd expect from Lifehouse or Daughtry. Chagi
I keep expecting guitar wankery similar to the synth in Shrinking Universe during the second verse.
