Starting around the 1.55.00 mark.

Nothing new really, but Matt said unlike TR which only had "4 or 5" songs that worked live, T2L has "quite a few" and "I think this album's going to be really good to play live" which is always good to hear.

Also, Matt being cute

With that loop, my baby loves it cos it's like ma-ma-ma-ma, he just thinks it's about his mum, which it is, but not for the reasons he thinks, it's quite funny [...] he's at the age where that's all he can do at the moment, just go ma-ma-ma-ma all day long...so it's a song aimed at babies basically

Uprising, Resistance, United States of Eurasia and Undisclosed Desires were the top 4 songs played in terms of amount by a pretty wide margin, all basically appearing all the time. Unnatural Selection are Exo and pretty much neck in neck after that, with Guiding Light trailing behind by almost as much of a difference that there is between the top 4 and US/Exo according to setlist.fm.

I would assume that he's thinking of those four as the real candidates and then he's just hedging his bets by including another one. At the same time though I can kind of see them throwing out Undisclosed Desires while still having played it that much out of some self-imposed sense of obligation or whatever.

Uprising, Resistance, Guiding Light, Unnatural Selection and MK Ultra, I think.

More like Uprising, Resistance, Guiding Light, Undisclosed Desires and United States of Eurasia.

Nice interview, thanks for sharing. ;)

How often it's played =/= they think it's the best though. Matt (and the whole band) know that Dead Star is amazing live but look how many times that was played.

This I think. Guiding Light was definitely intended to be played live from the off, because that is what they said, that they wanted a song for a stadium. I think Unnatural Selection is the fifth one, as they played that at Teignmouth. They were initially reluctant to perform MK Ultra, as Matt thought the guitar work might be difficult to play at the same time as singing, but of course they eventually overcame that.

Hmm thinking about it they weren't sure about Undisclosed Desires initially, but I expect they knew they would have to find a way to perform it if it was going to be a single. It might not be in the list of four songs Matt is thinking of though. Unnatural Selection seems a more obvious choice.

However, this album seems to have a lot of electronic music. Thus I'm not sure how it will have more obvious live songs than The Resistance.

They say the most obvious electronic songs were initially written as traditional rock songs so maybe it has something to do with that, maybe it's made it easier translating them to a live environment?

No idea. As long as it sounds good live it's what I care about :D

I like TR a lot as an album but it's true that live it didn't work as well as previous ones. It's good to see that the band recognises this.
