I don't buy it for a second. It does seem odd and if it was just a rumour on Twitter or something, I wouldn't believe it. Think about it: millions of people around the world watching the ceremony and listening to their first single. It's the best promotion for the album, and the single itself, that they could hope for. Recently they haven't even wanted performances on webstreams, let alone show to an audience of 3.5 billion. Only time will tell though, I'm probably wrong. Reading's viewing figures for the main stage are in the millions at most, though. The audience for the Olympics will be hundreds of times bigger at least.
