diamond_writer
I did a little prediction: Supremacy: Madness: Somehow I think this will be a softer song. Softer distorted guitar, quietly singing about the madness that we call the world. Panic Station: A bassline with the same groove and feel of TiRO. Very groovy song, think Private Eye meets Vicky Cryer meets brass. Not sure about lyrics. Follow Me: Soft piano and drums, very little bass. Animals: Droning, crunchy, epic riffage and bass and pounding drums. Pretty, simpele, though, playing on animal nature/basic nature. Explorers: I'm seeing a very expansive song, with synths. Lots of synths. Big Freeze: More synths, but also piano and prominent bass. Save Me: I think maybe more brass use. Wailing. Yeah. Liquid State: Synthy, but also guitars. It would have the effect that made you feel as if you were underwater, if you can understand what I'm trying to get at. Like Swimming Home by Evanescence in that sense. Isolated System: I think this is just the reporter talking with some music in the background, honestly.

muse maniac
What I meant was, if you like a band that the majority of others on this board dislike, keep it to yourself or prepare to be flamed! That's what I've learned from my time here so far anyway I also would prefer U2 to skrillex Well, I don't really like them, In find them boring. I still think they are a good band though. I didn't realize I was getting flamed, I just thought we differed in opinion lol.

jonisdead
But why a trailer should just showcase only one song from the album instead of giving more point of views of it? /redundant
sade
The overwhelming difference between Floyd and U2 is while they were/are both clearly self-indulgent, the former's music is full of feeling and warmth that makes your hairs stand on end whereas the latter makes you feel like a dose of ebola would be a more preferable experience. Couldn't have said it better myself. For the record, I'm not contesting that U2's accomplisments and I do acknowledge that they are a "good" band, but there's just something about them that makes me want to kick puppies. A lot of it has to do with non-music issues too, like Bono flying around in a private plane preaching about the environment and urging people to help end poverty/greed and then charging fans $200 for concert tickets. I wouldn't mind a Pink Floyed influence (because really, Pink Floyd is an amazing band), other than the obvious reason that Muse get labelled copy-cat artists as it is and references to yet another band that somewhat represents the same genre as them would be unfortunate. As for Skrillex, yes, an album worth of Skrillex influence would be catastrophic, but anyone who thinks that's going to happen is an idiot. The difference between potential U2& Skrillex influence is that Skrillex is obviously going to be a curious nod to a new path whereas U2 influence would probably mean regression to a bloated, self-important direction. CarrieB
I'm guessing part 1 is the strings, part 2 is the dub step? I think the strings and the "dubstep" in the trailer will be all part 1 and part 2 will be something different, though may still be orchestral. The strings and the dubstep go together well in the soundcloud. Also, there's only a little bit of dubstep on the album and since it clearly points to the title being Unsustainable, I can't see why it would be in part 2. If anything the strings could be part 2, but I don't think the dubstep will be.

They havent charghed 200$ for a ticket. The tickets were more expensive the last tour be ause of the massive stage they had, just like muse tickets were more expensive for thay reason. Everyone gets annoyed at bonos preaching but its undeniable what they have done in the past with music and that bono can still write great lyrics and sing well. They're still amazing live (despite his preaching inbetween the songs). When I said that queen is overrated, then i was flamed because people said that they were an enormous influence to other artist, so was u2. People mostly dislike u2 because of bono and cause most of the time they have only heard snippets of beautiful day and vertigo. Well that's why I hated them, but then I listened to couple of their older songs and I was immediately hooked. If you want to listen to music then dont dismiss their music only because of what you have heard about the artists personal life. Sorry if o didnt make any sense, its a fuckin pain to write on my stupid phone.
Livs
sorry if I'm being a bit stupid, but how would it being a concept album make it better than if it was a regular album? Would that mean it would just have more flow as the themes were all conncected?

Precisely nah, I just meant that when an album is intended to have a concise theme it stands a better chance of good flow (see: The Fragile). I don't own The Fragile but i do have The Downward Spiral. Might invest in it. I really hope the album has good flow. By the sounds of the titles it may have.... apart from Survival. Unless that is a song from the perspective of humans trying to survive in a universe destroying itself.
