If you're a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers you'll know that the band have been releasing every gig they perform in their current tour on MP3, FLAC and ALAC (CD quality) for about the same price as an standard album each.

Would you be interesting in Muse doing the same thing? Would you pay for a recording of the show you went to? Or do you think Muse should make them available for free?

Sounds like a great idea to me, might not be able to be done for festivals though because they've said they sometimes have difficulty getting the rights to it. That might just be for footage though.

Shame I might not be going on the next tour though so it'd be mostly useless to me unless there were some outstanding gigs that I wanted to listen to even though I hadn't been to them. It'd pretty much put MuseBootlegs out of future business though.

I would buy, yes.

If they did like RHCP, would that mean that fan-made DVDs would no longer be allowed?

They never have been allowed, simply tolerated.

They probably would still be though, since they're composed of fan recordings and are mixed and mastered by fans.

I think at £60 a ticket, they're already getting their moneys worth from fans.

They should be free to all who attended the gig, and maybe a small fee for those who didn't. Not the price of an album though

That's a good way to balance it, I think, if a system could be worked out.

coldplay did a nice thing a couple years back and made a cd of various songs from the tour performed live and handed them out to people who attended the gigs.

i really appreciated that :yesey: since i was too high to remember the concert when it happened

I think I speak for all the people over at MuseBootlegs when I say "HELL YES".

They would need to be in lossless quality.

And the price of an album PER gig is a tad much, especially if it's a digital album.

Yeah I agree. A download code with every ticket would be good.

Nice to see you starting this, Niall!

I was dubbing between answer 1 and 2, but then I realised that I'm not that much of an audiophile so as long as the recording is a clear one on MP3, I would still love it. (And then my back-wards iPhone could at least play it)

Again, good effort and I'm strongly supporting this. Keep us updated!

Yes, only if they were lossless and reasonably priced ($5-10). Just put the songs on a flash drive and sell them at the shows. :yesey:

I think the problem with that is that it means people who didn't go will only get to hear it if it's shared illegally or if they pay an extortionate price on eBay for the flash drive rather than a reasonable price from the Muse store.

This would be the best way to sell it.

Or the management could choose a lottery like the tickets one :awesome:

 i did actually suggest this (in 2009 ) so i'm all in favour. :D (i was told my idea would be taken on board )

not at full album price though.

i'd also like some live streams of gigs. PJ Harvey did a couple of excellent ones recently - one was free and one I paid for, £5 I think it was for the Royal Albert Hall gig and it was bloody good (actually it may have been last year, how time flies ) - granted she has a smaller audience than Muse but it shows it can be done. So then we can sit at home and watch Muse at the O2

Actually my idea was slightly different - the thought was to pre-order a recording along with a gig ticket and collect it after. That would be downloading it I guess rather than getting a physical cd? I was thinking how much I love to hear back the gigs I've attended, more so than those I haven't.

Also, that way, even if it was illegally shared, they've still had some funds from it ;)

Given the last ticket buying fiasco, I now think it would be a bit restrictive to limit the sales only to those people who had a gig ticket. There may be others interested after all. Just stick the gigs on the online store at a nice cheap price!!!

edit: Dip's idea of free for attendees and small cost to others is good :-)

Probably not. While I love attending live shows, I'm not a huge fan of live recordings. Also, the problem with a band like Muse is that they pretty much have a calculated, pre-planned way of doing things (the set lists, the "jams", so it's not like (different) live versions of the same songs would offer much interest). It would be the same gig over and over, really. I'd however consider buying if I learned rare songs got played and the cost was nominal.

I'd pay for a stream especially when a new tour starts though, to hear the new songs as they are being played. Probably not going to happen though.

Definitely. I've recently bought live material (both audio and video) from three of last year's Kasabian gigs. It's great to be able to listen/watch 'your' gig over and over.

It would be really great to have this, and I see no reason for the band/management not to put in the extra effort, espeically when there are potentially thousands of fans each night that may be willing to pay a bit for the recordings

It would be cool if Muse do what RHCP did but I think selling it at full album price is a bit too much. Streaming concerts would be awesome specially for people who dont have the chance to see Muse live.

I would actually really love this. I've only ever been to one gig that had a bootleg recording from the mixer, so it would nice to have that again with Muse.
