I heard 'I won't forgive', which would make sense. I could be wrong though. I fully agree with you about the structure though, everything seemed completely random. No real build-ups, just all of a sudden heavy-ness. That was my main problem (other than the lyrics, obviously), the song structure just felt random with no real climax when it felt like there should've been.

completely agree.. It seemed really rushed to me. The lyrics especially seem like they were written last minute with not much thought...Either that or a two year old wrote them...:erm:

Greetings, life's greetings

and I'm gonna win

yes, I'm gonna win

And I'll light the fuels

and I'll never lose

and I choose to survive

whatever it takes

You won't pull a head

I'll keep up the pace

and I'll give you my strength

to the whole human race

yes, I am prepared

to stay alive

and I won't forgive

the vengeance is mine

and I won't give in

cause I choose to strive

that I'm gonna wiiiiiiiiiiiiiin!

Race, it's a race

and I'm gonna win

yes, I'm gonna win

and I'll light the fuels

and I'll never lose

and I choose to survive

whatever it takes

you're won't pull a head

'cause I'll keep up the pace

and give you my strength

to the whole human race

Yes, I am prepared

Yes, I'm gonna wiiiiiiiiin!

Fight, fight, fight

Yes, I'm gonna wiiiiiiiiiiiiin!

Race, life's a race...not greetings :chuckle:

This is a stupid complaint. I'm actually glad they decided to abandon traditional verse/chorus structure, it led to a better build up.

I'm all for abandoning the standard structure, but it still didn't feel very connected. Once the energy started kicking in it went into buildup but before that I'm not getting a good tie in.

I think my hate is from the lyrics. They really are awful.

The structure seems really weird to me. Maybe someone more musically knowledgeable would disagree but it seems all over the place. Maybe I wasn't expecting such a progressive song with no real chorus/verse structure.

But the lyrics. They don't make any sense. "I will forgive, I'll have my vengeance"? what.

And they're so unimaginative. What are the Olympics about, uh, being good at things. Really good. Winning even. Let's write a song about winning. And being really good at things. And showing people that I'm winning. And that you're better than other people.

Why couldn't it have been about the struggles so many olympians and paralympians go though to get where they are? About the people who win and those who don't? They award other medals than gold, Matt. Maybe about the symbolism of the events? It just seems like a really shallow interpretation of what the happens at the olympics.

Otherwise it's alright.

there's an interview from resistance, i think it was with zane, where "throwing in the kitchen sink" was used to describe the album. yeah...that's why it's a mess...cause it is all over the place.

matt doesn't know what a choir should be used for, much less how to write for one. the backing vocals were horrendous full stop. but then, you've probably read my tweets

the strings continued to be harsh and slurring and every musical layer to that track is treated like it's a solo.

you can do it that way, but it doesn't mean you should. the result is a jumbled mass of noise. it isn't tonally tight. one thing doesn't support the other outside the bass and the drums. even the piano is off.

the lyrics are rubbish, but then that's totally normal so i won't bother with them.

it sounds like usoe, the hah hah hah nonsense is laughable.

the only good bits are when there are no vocals at all.

and i'm not trying to be mean. but there it is.

Fuck all you part-time fans. Muse have been my favourite band since 2000 and they just get better. I don't want another Muscle Museum. We already have that. I want more Muse, not less Muse. I don't want them to calm it down to appease these brain-dead kids who want Muse to stick to the safe, radio friendly unit shifting boredom of uprising, starlight or undisclosed desires. GO BIG OR GO HOME. Get off the band wagon cos Twilight is over.

Most stupid post of the day. Well done. Have a medal.

Yeah, the lyrics are definitely mediocre....but I prefer them to NSC or Guiding Light...and thats all that matters.

Comments from other forums/sites:

"This is what happens when you put middle-aged upper-middle class men in charge."

"The blandness is almost grating"

"At this point I find it a little bit hard to believe that Muse used to be my favorite band. They truly can't go lower than this. Right?"

"Jesus fuck they try so hard to make their music dramatic yet have no idea how to convey emotion, and those chanting choir singers absolutely killed it holy fuck"

"Worst lyrics I've heard in a song ever. However it's the best thing Muse have wrote in a while imo. Also this song is just an olympics song, it's not the lead single from the new album and there is only one dubstep song on the album. The lead single is very stripped back so should sound nothing like this"

"Queen v0.1

Whether you like Queen or not, they were good at what they did. This is a disgrace."

"I'm a Muse fan and this is shit. I want my riffs back."

"Over the top wankery, just like everything after BH&R"

And my personal favourite

"I hope Chris leaves and forms another band"

So yeah...it's not really positive

I will agree that the change was a bit too spontaneous, but this song is so over the top I hardly think it matters.

To stay alive

And I won't forgive
