You.Make.Me.Sick Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I've been thinking about how successful The Resistance was here in the States -especially Uprising. So, do you think the popularity will continue to grow or do you think it has reached it's peak?
kueller Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Uprising got big, but even I know a lot of people who'd recognize the tune and yet not know who wrote it. Same with a few others like TIRO, KoC and Starlight. So I'd say from a US point of view they're not the biggest band ever yet. As for whether they want to be or care to be is a different point.
Clunge Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Only if they get the same backing the received during the BH&R era. With the exception of Uprising, The Resistance singles flopped in the UK and for once, they only released three instead of the 5/6 from the previous three albums.
FabriPav Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I think so, they will get bigger, bigger and bigger. Until they'll explode
HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Could do. Look at a band like coldplay for example, viva la vida was a big hit, but paradise was even bigger. (in the uk at least)
FabriPav Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Could do. Look at a band like coldplay for example, viva la vida was a big hit, but paradise was even bigger. (in the uk at least) That was the poppiest song they've ever done, I'm not surprised by it being so popular.
Bumpypotato Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Could do. Look at a band like coldplay for example, viva la vida was a big hit, but paradise was even bigger. (in the uk at least) Can't we look at a good band instead?
HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Can't we look at a good band instead? Sorry I agree
Hat Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 So I'd say from a US point of view they're not the biggest band ever yet. I'd say they're not the biggest band ever from any point of view.
HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The problem is, to be the biggest hit as in making the charts and being played everywhere, would be very hard for it to be the muse we know and love. So maybe it's best if they don't go that far
Dee3Dee Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The problem is, to be the biggest hit as in making the charts and being played everywhere, would be very hard for it to be the muse we know and love. So maybe it's best if they don't go that far I've got news for you; their songs get played here, there and everywhere quite frequently already.

HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I've got news for you; their songs get played here, there and everywhere quite frequently already. I don't hear them that often actually, but that's just a matter of chance probably. they never get played at any party I go to for example, that's all dubstep
Anxyous Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The problem is, to be the biggest hit as in making the charts and being played everywhere, would be very hard for it to be the muse we know and love. So maybe it's best if they don't go that far Yeah, they should stay underground and keep their indie cred.
HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Yeah, they should stay underground and keep their indie cred. What indie cred
Hat Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I don't hear them that often actually, but that's just a matter of chance probably. they never get played at any party I go to for example, that's all dubstep That's because party music isn't the same as greatest hits. You don't hear Stairway To Heaven being played that often, but it's still considered to be one of the best songs of all time.
HannahG123 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 What would your idea of their 'biggest hit' be then?
Hat Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Their biggest hit is Uprising. The song that is gonna be remembered as their "greatest song" (If people will even see them as anything other than a Radiohead tribute band in 20 years) would probably be Knights of Cydonia. Neither of these are good songs for a party.
Bumpypotato Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I don't hear them that often actually, but that's just a matter of chance probably. they never get played at any party I go to for example, that's all dubstep Possibly because they haven't had a proper release for 3years. And biggest hit is very different to best song.
Hat Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 And biggest hit is very different to best song. Best song in general polls and lists isn't though.
Bumpypotato Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Best song in general polls and lists isn't though. No, it's more an indication on how many people spam it.
