kueller
Why is it called Vuilstamen?
Hat
Maybe because it's almost what Matt calls Chris after the riff?
kueller
I always thought that, but was put off since that wasn't the exact word, and it sounds like a real place. I wonder who coined it first.
Hat
I'd say it's far more likely that the person who coined the name either got it wrong or simplified it, rather than it being a real place which Google can't find.
Bumpypotato
I'd love for Muse's next album to take inspiration from this kind of stuff: (the intro, not the song obviously) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZRjj-TmRFs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRi1OXQucpM Give us haunting soundscapes and beautiful melodies. Isolated System was a great example from not too long ago. Yes please. More weird and quirky stuff like this, less bombastic pop. Monty Jam is one of my favourite Muse things. Bumpypotato
And not to forget, the piano version of Nishe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfCAikCgxu0 So pretty. An album of atmospheric tracks like this and Isolated System would be pretty special.
Hat
Yeah. Or at least an EP. Despite my low expectations of Muse as songwriters these days, I think they could produce a great instrumental EP.

Despite my low expectations of Muse as songwriters these days, I think they could produce a great instrumental EP. Honestly they could produce a great album if they would just pull their heads out of their asses and stop taking inspiration from crappy bands they grew up listening to. Hat
Honestly I used to think that too, but there is just way too much nonsense in their music these days to salvage a whole album's worth of good music. Like, for me, they would have to get rid of Mercy, Aftermath, Revolt and possibly even The Globalist, so literally half the album. Dead Inside Psycho Another song Reapers The Handler JFK Defector Another song Another song Another song Drones Now that would be a good album... forevermusic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJMNUwPLEsw Little random thing I found on YouTube. Bit of a head-fuck to work out which performance is which at times.
Claudia O
Is Absoltution the favourite album from the band themselves? On the starting site of muse.mu there are the albums listed, in chronological order, but it doesn't start off with Drones but with Absolution. Ok, Lmoat chronological, Hullabaloo is on the last place

Picko
Matt has said a few times that Drones is their "best album".
Zepp
He's been saying that for every new album since The Resistance in interviews, and then when he said that about Drones I seem to remember he somewhat slagged off the previous recent albums. Hat
Not sure if it was him or Dom who was like "finally we can say that this is our best album yet". But anyway I don't think the placement of Absolution bears any significance.

Hat
All artists say that. You will never hear someone promote the album by saying "Meh, it's pretty good I guess. It's got nothing on our old one though" Well maybe someone, but not anyone signed to Warner at least.

Jobby
Huh. So apparently Map Of Your Head once had a heavier version that actually got recorded and everything (just never released obvs), nicknamed Map Of Your Headache. Like a Hyper Music/Hyper Chondriac Music type deal, I guess. Please tell me other people also didn't know this, I've gone of 8 years loving MOYH totally oblivious I'm definitely asking about it whenever the next Q&A happens, it's gotta be knocking around somewhere and I want that shit to surface. serpentsatellite
I remember reading that ages ago, on Muselive, when it was a thing. Totally forgot about it. iirc, the name was fan made, and never mentioned by the band.
