invincible.muse Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 So last night there were the X-factor finale in Denmark and the contestant Sveinur sang Hysteria by Muse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6wh3Qe7sHY Frankly it's rather bad, but you guys could use a good laugh. (And he came third thank god)
Hat Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 It's unusual to see that they tried to sound so much like the original instrumentally, and even the vocal effects. But the singing was...uninspired.
Ryoma-kun Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 The knee-slide before the non-existent solo made me chuckle.
Queeni Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 But the singing was...uninspired. From the first words on I wondered if he understood the lyrics or what the song is about at all. It's like he just sang it cause it had to be sung, didn't put much emotion in there, imho. The knee-slide ...
Gareeh Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Embarrassing thing is the way the guitar is set up in live shows for that song, this version guitar-wise sounds better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yToR4J_c1-8 So... weak.
Uccellino Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Just sounds like some random dude in a pub who's got up to do karaoke Hope he got booted off!
FabriPav Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 What makes it incredible is that he reached the final.
invincible.muse Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 What makes it incredible is that he reached the final. In his defence this was by far his worst performance of the show, but ironically the best song
Stewez26 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=497QEVwxpFw&glI wonder if he even learnt the words to that song...
lololcharlotte Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Well, that's Hysteria ruined for me for a few days.
Ryoma-kun Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=497QEVwxpFw&gl Let's hope Matt doesn't see this video. He'll probably love the ending... The lyrics made me laugh though
Blype Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Thankfully Muse has been spared from the atrocities of YTT, as highlighted here. The kiddies seem to be in their element with the safe terrain provided by chart toppers of dubious talent like Jessie J, One Direction and LMAFO, but the horrors that can occur when they cover songs that you might actually have on your iPod are something else all together. Somehow Foo Fighters and Muse have managed to avoid the indignity of a Young Talent Time appearance, but White Stripes, Gotye and Silverchair haven’t been so lucky. Even older favourites from Queen, Guns N’ Roses and Blondie have suffered in a series of tuneless violations that should have drawn attention from the UN. If this happened to Muse...

Not sure if you realise but there was a string group who covered Time is Running Out earlier can't remember what week but it was fairly dull
Blype Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Not sure if you realise but there was a string group who covered Time is Running Out earlier can't remember what week but it was fairly dull Damn... I don't watch it so I didn't know. I don't think TiRO on strings is a good idea.
Stewez26 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Damn... I don't watch it so I didn't know. I don't think TiRO on strings is a good idea.No It wasn't good at all
Tofu Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 No It wasn't good at all The Vitamin stuff's really no good at all (except maybe their MOYH, but I only like the arrangement), though I do like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRUTf-EsaTY

starlike_starlight Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Damn... I don't watch it so I didn't know. I don't think TiRO on strings is a good idea. little out of the topic, but Resistance on strings can be really good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYpIHBqi0Ns&feature=related too bad this is the only Muse song they covered, cuz they are really good...
Kati Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 little out of the topic, but Resistance on strings can be really good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYpIHBqi0Ns&feature=related too bad this is the only Muse song they covered, cuz they are really good... Oh dear. This is good. I was listening to it and at some point I thought how come I've never realised how good song Resistance is. Then I listened to the album version and thought well this isn't so good. Somehow this string version manages to bring up a haunting "run run until your lungs explode" rhythm compared to which the album version is just mild and mellow. Thanks for posting
