Neil.
i like the second from the left. It looks like it's got elements from a MoC and something like a Jaguar.... can't quite put my finger on it..... looks/sounds like a nice project. any thought on finished etc? hooglebug
depends what wood i use. if its nice then i'll just have a natural finish, if its not so great looking then black or something EDIT: went to a great wood yard today and got enough black limba for maybe two bodies and three necks and some lovely african padauk. so this one will be all black limba with probably an ebony board. might do a bit of black tint and burst on it depending how it looks. still dont know which shape to do. discounted desiree shape cos it just doesnt look right. so its down to sakura, or a deco shape. You posted one before that looked like it had a cutaway in the side part of it, really close to where the pickups would be. edit: this one, the impressionist. what about that one? hooglebug
nah that ones designed to be all cool and shiney, and i wouldnt fit all the pups on it anyway iv gone for the deco s, simply because more people said that one then any other. its gonna be a through neck. cut the side blocks and neck block out yesterday and will maybe get some shapes in the next few days
Neil.
hooglebug, you ever come across somewhere that would custom cut a piece of chrome?
hooglebug
i dont think such a think as a piece of chrome exists. everything thats chrome is electroplated with chrome. so you'd have to get another metal done and have it plated

Neaver
I'm getting the body of my guitar painted just white. Is it okay to use car paint for that? Also, I was thinking of adding a mint green splatter to it under the bridge to add just a little something to it. Is there a certain way of doing something like that or is it really just get a paint brush and flick? It woud be something like this: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/407867/2/istockphoto_407867_black_paint_splatter.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup/how/style_and_design/abstracts/407867_black_paint_splatter.php%3Fid%3D407867&h=315&w=380&sz=25&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=zF00Y5xryaSs8M:&tbnh=102&tbnw=123&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpaint%2Bsplatter%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26sa%3DN

hooglebug
hahaha yes do it do it!!!! wdmusic do red mirror blank sheets for pickguards. and yes neaver car paint is fine. if it was good enough for leo fender in the 50's its good enough for you now hehe. as for the flicky thing, i dont know. i guess just practise different methods on some scrap till you get it looking right EDIT: i know you're all dying to see this - the most exciting bit of guitar porn ever!!!! are you ready? you'll wet your pants im sure lol Edited June 30, 2008 by hooglebug

Neil.
they're some fine ass pickups hooglebug. And that wood is so cool. It has that sort of vintagy-aged look. Maybe a nice natural finish of some sort???
hooglebug
it would look very good as a vintagy thing, but i can get neither the pickups nor bridge in nickel. which is a bugger. i know what im doing for the finish i think. you shall have to wait and see. although i think i already said it earlier. but dont look cos then you wont be surprised
Neil.
ill wait for the surprise. That wood would look great for a vintage project though. I came across a vintage tiesco control plate, fully wired, in a local add lately. That plus some other nice vinatgey parts, and you could have a nice guitar...
