L.
I enjoyed! Almost made me feel like I was there and now want to listen to Immortal Technique. From what you are saying about the social messages and activist element of each act, Muse does sound like the odd band out.

Still don't know why on earth she was performing :/
alyssa_
Nah, I think enough of Muse's songs had that "let's start a revolution" vibe to have them fit a bit. But yeah. Lauryn Hill was random as hell.
JessicaSarahS
Immortal Technique was amazing! Perfect fit for the show and probably my favorite act. I do have to agree with the reviewer about Muse's set. It's the only review/blog that has brought up that point. While the show was well done, it did not fit. Neither did Lauryn Hill's, but let's pretend that her set didn't happen at all. Muse had the opportunity to show LA their 'controversial' side. But they didn't take it and they went the safe road. The safe road at a rebellious and gritty concert =
beeSides
thanks guys. i appreciate the feedback probably won't be linking to articles here much in the future, although kat will be at lolla and reading/leeds...so the muse relevency will be around a bit. i'm eyeing the sunset strip music festival next...although since this is on my dime still i'll probably just go on the saturday. so if you want...give us a follow on twitter ( @gigspunk) and if you've liked the videos so far please subscribe to the youtube channel under the same name. CarrieB
While I'm with you on your concerns for society, was there any need for Muse to go out of their way to preach to the converted? Personally I think a more subtle approach is as worthwhile as a bombastic one. I just hope that Muse continue to carry a political mantra in their music, at least to some degree, in the mainstream, as tbh the majority of mainstream music is totally shallow. beeSides
I didn't say they should preach. But thanks for reading
trinity3music
They've never been preachy, their songs are more universally themed. Besides, they are men of few words onstage. If they gave us a leftist rant rather than the noodle-a-thon it just wouldn't feel right.
L.
She already mentioned that she never said that they should preach but that their choice of songs stood out as not being as themed towards the message conveyed by LA Rising as the other bands. I mean they could have played songs such as Assassin, City of Delusion, The Small Print, MK Ultra, Unnatural Selection, Showbiz (to an extend) I think those would have been a lot more relevant to the theme of the day than Starlight, TIRO and SMBH... beeSides
well it's meant to be an article about the day and the whole event. so whether or not anyone agrees with what i wrote in terms of muse i'm not really bothered. i just wanted to write something that gave the vibe of being there.
