Jimmyneutron Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Hi All, What does everyone think the chances are of hearing any new material at the upcoming gigs throughout August (LA Rising, Reading & Leeds, Lolapalooza etc)?
Riveon Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Extremely unlikely...maybe a piano melody or riff, but they've barely done anything so definitely no songs.
Jimmyneutron Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 Extremely unlikely...maybe a piano melody or riff, but they've barely done anything so definitely no songs. I think chances are low but wouldn't write it off completely. Less than 20%
supernova14 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I think chances are low but wouldn't write it off completely. Less than 20% +1
Mick4Kizna Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Definitely no complete songs and I seriously doubt we'll even get a few piano chords or riffs. I would love to hear new material but I had to say 0%.
Stewez26 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Not a whole new song, but a few piano chords are likely. Just thinking back to the Seattle Key Arena gig that had that little piano outro to NSC, that they played as an outro to USoE. But there is no way you could tell that it will be new stuff
Dee3Dee Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Probably in the form of a riff or something. Full songs, no.
Clunge Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Very doubtful, I would say, particularly as the band admit they have very little new stuff together yet.
knightofcydonia Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Oh oops I put 61-80% but I misread the question IGNORE THAT Ahh, I think less than 20%... way less. Yeah maybe a piano snippet but no whole songs.
kueller Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Adding to what others said, probably something like the NSC outro or something. No full new songs, seeing as from what the band has said they have nothing close to a full song yet. 1-20% seems about right.
Minipoito Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 not likely, but I do considerate the outros and intros to be sometimes the base of new songs.
ninjabanana Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Yeah i actually did spot a brief little jam that i hadn't heard before at LA Rising, sounded pretty cool.
Pip Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one but I'd far rather hear stuff I'm already familiar with at gigs, any gig. I'd rather listen to new material at home.

jackparker Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Yeah i actually did spot a brief little jam that i hadn't heard before at LA Rising' date=' sounded pretty cool.[/quote'] Before/after which song was that?
Dee3Dee Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Before/after which song was that? Probably talking about the Kaoss Jam before SMBH as that seemed to have a lot of people confused.
Zolic Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Only reason I don't put a 0 is because matt mentioned probably doing it in an interview, but then again the amount of bollocks that man spits out^^'
Bs Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I put a 0 before reading the above comment, but now I'm glad I did! Although if something showed up like the TAB intro from the end of CE on the Abso tour would be pretty cool. I'm not expecting anything though.
FearAndPanic Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 We could get some of the chords Dom's mentioned Matt playing him on the piano.
kueller Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Well at this point I don't think we've heard anything that sounds like new material.
Kirby Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one but I'd far rather hear stuff I'm already familiar with at gigs, any gig. I'd rather listen to new material at home. Agreed. Plus, I highly doubt they'll play anything new anytime soon.
Bs Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Haven't Leeds and Reading been confirmed as the end of the touring until the next album anyway, and there's no chance they'll play anything new there, because they'll already have played 11 songs that most people in the audience won't know anyway!
Zolic Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Well 8 actually^^' but yeah no way that happens xD
Sparky_ Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Chris said today in an NME interview that they won't be playing anything new at Reading because it would be all over youtube and then it would spoil it
