Need the help of fellow Muse fans

I'm looking to start a Muse cover band in my area, but I want your guys' honest opinions: do I have the guitar/ vocal skills necessary to undertake this without it sucking terribly?

There's an acoustic cover of Time is Running Out and several Muse guitar covers here:

be as harsh as you'd like; realize that most of the guitar covers were recorded in one take so they're not quite perfect.

I'm just trying to get all the feedback that I can.

(moving this to the OP so I can keep track of it...)

I recorded over a karaoke track of Newborn, but there's some distortion in the chorus/ higher falsetto parts...there's no way I can record it without getting that cuz I'm using a webcam mic...albeit a higher end one, but still not enough for that kind of volume. So when listening, please keep that in mind, haha.

hint: this probably works better if you imagine it in a bar with a cover band. have a few drinks beforehand if that helps, lol

You're guitar skillz seem to be decent enough I think... not horrible but not MB (obviously...). In terms of vocals... well it's hard to judge from TiRO, as that isn't really a challenging song vocally. Put up a few more vocal covers :)

I initially thought, hmm won't be good, but I was pleasantly surprised, had my foot tapping away happily. I agree, need a range of vocals for a more informed assessment.

Cheers!

Thanks. :) On a good day I might be able to hit the stuff in showbiz or microcuts but a) probably not today and b) probably not without blowing up my microphone. There's some decently high falsetto in that link to newborn I posted earlier, just overlook the mic overloading. :p

Wow, that is actually a great NB cover I think. You kind of sound like Rivers Cuomo from Weezer in this :p

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks a ton man, and that's a HUGE compliment. I'm twenty-five.

I agree great cover, particularly on a decent set of speakers, the TiRO was sensational 2nd time round (on the better system also). Look after that mic :D

I'm moving into an apartment with an extra room soon, so I should finally be able to set up a decent home studio - first purchase is definitely a condenser mic. Stuff can get expensive, haha, but once I pay off my acoustic I should be able to go on an equipment spending spree. :x
