muse samuse
If they grossed $76 mill on tour and only(!) earned $35 mill, I guess that accounts for the production costs, agent fees etc. Forbes.com likely got the $76 mill figure from Pollstar.com which estimated Muse 2010 calendar year concert grosses at this number for 64 shows. Because their earnings calculations for each celebrity ran from May 1, 2010 through May 1, 2011 this may account for the $35 mill (gross?) amount they arrived at. I am not sure if record sales are part of their earnings estimate for musicians. Some artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Beyonce and Lady Gaga make significant earnings from other revenue sources such as sponsorships and commercials and business ventures such as clothing and jewelry and real estate. According to an earnings analysis done by Billboard last year, approx 1/3 of gross concert receipts can be considered artist pre-tax net take-home pay. Rock bands such as U2 and Bon Jovi make most (around 90%) of their money from touring. The touring component percentage for Muse is probably closer to 80%, with album sales and digital single downloads accounting for most of the rest. Artists also receive songwriter royalties and various licensing fees (performance, mechanical, and synch) for their songs. August 2009 through August 2011 (rounded numbers) income estimates for Muse: TR tour grosses and festival headliner and U2 support appearance fees totaling about $128 million (approx $42 million net) 4.5 million albums sold and 6 million downloads worldwide assuming a 20% royalty rate (approx $10 million net) Other royalty/licensing fees and miscellaneous income such as merchandise sales (approx $2 million net) Because Muse toured for only part of 2009 and 2011, the Forbes.com earnings figure multiplied by 1.5 comes close to the two year calculations above. Of course Muse also had significant but lesser earnings from their last two albums (BH&R and Absolution) and earlier tours so the band is doing well financially even though most Americans have never heard of them. ProjectvRD
You shouldn't take notice of any list that Forbes dish out. They haven't got a clue about anything. For instance, the actually think the Walton family is the richest family in the world. The Rothschild family features in the #300's with just $1.3 Billion, and yet... the Rothschild family are known to be richest family on the planet and each of the 6 heads of the family are individually worth more than Bill Gates and Carlos Slim combined. Unbeknownst to Forbes, the rest of the world does not comply to their American laws and doesn't need to declare a thing to the sources they get their information from! (PS. The Rothschild family is estimated to be worth well over a cool 50 Trillion British Pound Sterling.... yes, that is meant to say Trillion. This is the family that owns majority shares in the Federal Reserve, Bank of America, Bank of England, Bank of Germany, Bank of China(!!!!), Bank of Japan... because they own majority shares in all the lending national banks. This is the family that funded both France and Britain during the Napoleonic Wars, they funded both the Soviet Union and the United States suring the military gear up of the Cold War, they funded the Allies and Axis in World War Two... and those are historical facts written in financial reports at the time they happened, not afterwards. Even today the now (debatebly) democratic Russian Federation is still paying this family the debts incurred by the Soviet Union before, during and even after their collapse. The Bill and Miranda Gates Foundation recieved a super large donation of $10 Billion in one single payment and the donator asked to be left anonymous, it is highly expected to be one of the Rothschild's. It was the Rothschild family who insured the entire Apollo project and the Russian competition, in today's money those projects are worth in excess of $100 Billion. Both were in fact successes even though the Russian's never got there, you know, technology passing the down the line et all. It is the Rothschild's who owned over 90% of the gold reserves for nearly two centuries before moving out of the Gold business all together in about 2004, only to jump back in when it hit an all time low and now it is at an all time high. They knew something was going to happen in that! It is the Rothschild's who are loaning China it's money to build, build, build and the cash has an interest rate of about 5%... several tens of billions of dollars plus 5%?). Can you really trust anything Forbes says when they cannot get access to information outside of the United States of America because American law prohibits them from printing information not verified through American financial systems?! They base their whole income on talking about finance and yet cannot estimate the wealth that exists in 90% of the world's population. So why do they put the Rothschild fortune down as $1.3 Billion and not "unknown or zero?" Because they own $1.3 Billion dollars worth of shares in Forbes lol, ironic eh?
