And yes, dear, we will all be checking out the other bands besides Muse.... ...as well as checking out the incredible food and wine offered at this event, as well as enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Golden Gate Park. I've been coming to this park for over 20 years to enjoy concerts and festivals, it's a magical place!

A little more SF info, and then that's all I have to say about it:

For those who need one, there's another more reasonably priced hotel called the Carl, in Cole Valley, near the edge of GG park, on the N-Judah line and near the Haight. It's way closer to the park than the Nikko, and less expensive.

ahhh, the N-Judah line  I suffer that train line much too often ;)

I'm spoiled to live so close to Golden Gate Park and I'm happy for those visiting to see it all for the first time. If people have room in their schedules they can check out the De Young and the Science Center. Not to mention gardens and paddle boats (still haven't done that :p )

Phish fans are legion, though, and they travel for shows...they're basically the leftover Deadheads...I was a Deadhead, so........anyway, yes, I would get tickets now and not wait.... ;)

They sure are legion! Sure enough, my cousin texted me this morning about how he's considering going and has pre order to other Phish shows already. He doesn't know if he can do OSL though because he has a baby on the way. :p He lives in LA though so that should be a bit easier for him than me.

Ugggh I want to go to this so badly. Not only because of Muse but like, I like about 50% of the entire lineup. That almost NEVER happens. IT HURTS WORSE BECAUSE I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO BE IN SAN FRANCISCO THIS SUMMER. But during the actual festival I'm going to be in Taiwan. :'(

I got a pair of friends that live like half a mile from GGpark and one that lives right across the street from it. So i should be set with my room, though still unsure on transportation up from socal. Worst case I'll fly up and cab to my friend by the park (like what, $45 cab ride? eep)

golden gate park is fucking awesome, only been around there twice. im a huge fan of parks in general :D

Having people live so close to the festival is really handy :) I'm like a 20 minute walk away at most (*is spoiled!!*)

for the cab fare when I've traveled from SFO to my place it's been between 25-40. it *might* be 45 if you include a tip. You could also take BART from SFO to downtown (Civic Center) and then take the train or bus out to your friends. A cab ride in a new city is nicer of course.

:supersad:

I can't get a ticket til like next month. Which it'll probably be sold out by then.

Might have to sit this one out. :(

LIZ

I'm going to buy a ticket, but if my guitar teacher can get me a free ticket, then I can always sell mine to you!

Put me down as a maybe.

I need to figure out if I can make this. Since I'm going to Leeds and Reading, August is going to be an expensive month. But Muse playing in S.F. (roughly 30 minutes away from me) is too good to pass up, especially since this is likely going to be the "warm-up" show for Reading/Leeds.

Although, the chance to also see Phish, Arcade Fire, MGMT and others would be worth the cost of the 3-Day ticket.

yeah, a Job + Credit Card

(i think you can buy those temporary rechargeable ones at 7-11 now)

GL with those lawns being mowed or babies being sat.

Oh, the joys of being almost 16...I'll probably end up just paying back my mom, eventually...(which further proves how young I am)

Anyone up for being my temporary parent at OSL?

Me too! Have you ever seen munidiaries.com? Hilarious stories on there. There's a video of one guy telling a story about the N-Judah coming round the corner before going through the Buena Vista tunnel and there's a car parked right there and it blocks the train from proceeding so the passengers get off the train and physically lift the car out of the way!

I live in the Mission so I'm taking the N out to the park for this, or I could ride my bike over there....we'll see.....

Yeah, not only are they legion, but the Bay Area is chock full of hippies, so Phish fans will heavily represent at this shindig.

BART runs to/from SFO until midnight, possibly a little after....look at bart.gov

Plus, once you get into the city, the MUNI has "owl" service, so there are buses and light rail trains that run all night. You're sorted! :)

That is good for us. Will make it much more relaxed and easy to get barrier for Muse. :)

Yes, hopefully! ;)

I like the idea of hippies going to see Muse. I think it will be good for them....it was good for me! I'm basically still a hippy but was more of a Deadhead than a fan of these newer jam-bands..

I don't think I could be anyone's Muse mom for this (although god knows I'm old enough to be ) but closer to the time, I'd be willing to give peeps my mobile number if you feel you need an emergency contact person while you're in the city, you know, just in case anything happens and you need an adult who is local and knows the city. :)
