Scales and how to improvise, basically.

Ok, I really want to start creating my own guitar parts and seeing as everything is based upon a scale, why not start on them and improvise on them/use them as a tool to create something?

 

Now when I say I want to improvise with them I don't mean put them into a solo or something like that or a long winded single note guitar riff I'm talking about some of the stuff you might find in a progressive rock band or something.

 

Ok there's a few things I need to ask, the first one is quite long but should be fairly simple I'd imagine:

 

Question 1:

 

I'll take a few tab bits from some songs I like:

Here is an example of 4 parts of songs I like. As you can see they aren't really long solo's or anything like that, just parts of songs. Each piece of tab, I'm guessing they are all in the same scale yes? Not all four tabs, but each individual tab?

 

 

Question 2

 

Within a song does, let's say a fairly experiemental one, that has a few different riffs and a few different chord sequences throughout, does each section have a link and do they all 'make sense' musically or are they just a bunch of riffs hat have no common trend within them?

 

 

Question 3

 

Obviously notes are based around a scale but how about chords? Now I know notes are played over chord sequences but how about in music where there is only 1 guitarist so there can only be 1 of chords/lead being played at the same time?

 

And I'm not talking about conventional chords like A, B, C, D etc. Major and Minors, more things like powerchords and chords are fairly experimental.

There is an example. Those two bits are played consecutively with a small drum break inbetween. What I'm asking is do they both follow a similiar pattern or musical idea? For example if I was someone coming up with a song and came up with the riff in part 1, would the second part be musically connected or would it just be trial and error to find something that fitted?
