Glenn Beck Fears Muse’s Grammy Performance Was ‘a Call for Revolution’

I know Glen Beck is a nutter, but I really do hope that Americans don't genuinely think that the Brits regard themselves as 'European'. Culturally, historically etc, it's just a very simplistic thing to say.

oh and lol obviously

Well we ARE in Europe so are technically European. But in terms of historical culture Europe gets divided into "northern Europe" and the Mediterranean regions anyway. So we're northern European but most people here would probably say British or their region of the UK first (e.g. English) and still not feel particularly European.

But he's still a douche.

Yep, sounds about right for Glenn Beck. How can Amercians put up with him? Just how?

By ignoring him and his piss-poor excuse for a news station. I just read the BBC for news generally. Fox and CNN are pretty damn terrible. Sometimes I do like to play a game where I watch Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly or whatever shit Fox has on for as long as possible until their blatant bias pisses me off and I have to go do something else. Usually lasts about 4 minutes.

Proud to be from the worst continent ever to exist in human history?

What an awful thing to say!

Britain, itself, has hardly been a pillar of virtue over the years! In fact I'm pretty ashamed tbh of much of British history.

Europe is now leading, I believe, in a more humanitarian culture.

Feel affiliated with who you like, I couldn't give a monkeys, but slagging off a whole continent like that is bigoted and unnecessary.

Britain is part of the European continent.

And I'm not slagging off a continent, it's history. Far from bigoted, the total opposite if anything. But ignorance is obviously bliss in your case.

The first half of the 20thC is not going to be topped that quickly in terms of outright slaughter. The Great War and WW2 was Europe at it's worst.

To be honest, when I read "You have basically a call for revolution by this group" , I though "Awesome!" :p

However reading this:"Now you have to remember that these are Europeans and they have been degraded for a very long time, really since the beginning of time. They have had very few glimpses of real freedom",

I just laughed.

Yes I do realise that.

Obviously America is angelic. It has never had any bad effects on human history and it still doesn't! The country, and the way it is run is perfect in every way. Of course! I didn't realise that!

Um let me just mention Hiroshama.

I never said that either, just that Europe as a whole has a far worse record. You're not particularly bright are you?

You missed my edit! I am not going to say what I think of you because as yet I haven't received an infraction. ;):p

Why can't you just accept that people have affiliations with different things or places or people or songs and just leave it at that!?

Actually don't answer that because I'm not really interested.

Ok, so Hiroshima and Nagasaki compares to the murdering of 3 million Jews (Not to forget disabled people and homosexuals, also the horrific experiments conducted on them and so on), cities completely flattened (Coventry & Dresden being the must famous ones), countries being completely ruined financially (Britain only paid off the debt for WW2 about 5/6 years ago I think). Not to mention how fascist parties got into power democratically in various countries in Europe around that period, the Nazis weren't the only ones.

What happened in Japan was still awful, but to claim it was any worse than a great of things that happened I think is probably more bigotry than anything. The USA didn't actually want to get involved, just had to when there was a case Britain could lose and the USA would have lost a great deal of money.

I'm talking about facts here, fact aren't about opinion, you can't get away with that argument this time.

This is true. FDR didn't want to get involved even after Europe requested thier assistance. USA back then was still in the depths of the great depression. We only got involved when Japan bombed Hawaii, which still wasn't a state yet.

Ever country (and I don't think its fair to lump all of Europe together with your assessment of the first half of the last century), Italy, Germany, Austria et al had been given in to the "wonders" of promises made by someone offering something amazing after WW1, blind to the back story and history of this said individual. Sadly, over the last decade in the USA and, technically, since 1980, our country has grown farther and farther apart by people "offering" something amazing and its pushing our country literally into two classes, the rich and religious and the "poor middle class" intellectuals who are trying to change things.

The structure that is Socialism in Europe was FDRs original vision of USA back in 1944 before he died. It got inacted into Europe as a reconstruction for Europe creating freedoms for all and liberty, health care, liveable wage for all, vacation and freedom from work on a regular basis so most in Europe had the chance to live to work, not work to live. He died before this could be enacted in the US and that would have been the most if not only time that this would have been able to be applied to the US as we were pretty much at a crossroads at the end of WW2. Something big is going to happen in the US and it could be very good, or very bad.

I feel sorry of Obama as he has to try to keep both sides happy and has opposition from these Teabag freaks and clean of the horrendous mess Bush made of our country for 8 years. People are blaming Obama for everything that is wrong in our country but seem to forget that this is not something that can be swept clean in 2 years! Bush actually gave companies incentives for shipping US jobs overseas, whereas Obama is giving incentives to bring them back! This is the main way we are going to be able to create new jobs here.

Oops! Sorry, I went off on a tangent there. Sorry! US and wold history is a major thing to me and I like to have facts straight. Don't blame all of Europe for a couple of countries leaders horrible, HORRIBLE missteps. It was a bad time for most countries in the 30s and 40s. :$

I never said it was worse, there's no way to assess what was worse. But it was very very scary, and has become the scariest thing in the world. As far as I know America have been the only country to use it and hopefully it will never be used again, but we don't know that.

What I'm saying is that everywhere has their skeletons. It's pointless trying to argue who has been worse than who and people today shouldn't be judged on the crimes of yesterday. I still think it's very bad to make generalistic arguments like you did which have no relevance to the discussion on a forum where many people are European. I will not be judging today's Americans by Hiroshama, or by Glenn Beck incidentally.

And I was referring to Europe today. Basically I believe that Europe is where the hope is. If you have a different opinion, fine, but there's no need to try and win points by saying damning things that reflect on large numbers of people.

And btw, who the hell cares about money. Loss of money is such a trivial thing in comparison to the other devastating incidents you have described.

Got to wonder if you're just a troll sometimes.

You keep forgetting Nagasaki as well. Also, no one appears to be offended by my comments.
