LyraSilvertongue Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 From TopNews New Zealand: Rock band Jane's Addiction has announced that its new album bound to come out later this year will be a lot different than any of its previous works. They have gone to the extent to say that their new CD will be inspired by the likes of Muse and Radiohead. Talking about the new album, Frontman Perry Farrell informed that fans will be surprised as the band will be shifting from its regular style of, heavy rock `n' roll riffs to a completely different sound. The new genre will be more on the lines of the post-punk, goth darkness genre, which has been often played by Muse. In an interview to the Rolling Stones, Perry says that though, the band wants to please its fans. But, they had to look at their own individual growth as well, and the new found sound was what they would prefer playing now. Jane's Addiction had formerly gone into a hiatus in the year 1991. The band had later on made many reunions. Though, it was only in the year 2008 that the band united back for good, though, their previous bassist Eric Avery left in the year 2009. Following Avery, former bassist for Guns `n' Roses, Duff McKagan played with the band. However, it was Dave Sitek, who finally decided to join the band and help them with the bass. http://topnews.net.nz/content/211305-jane-s-addiction-goes-dark-new-album a the bold bit. Goth?! Zaphod Chizzlebrox Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Ah well, there's another great band going to go down the pan then.
LyraSilvertongue Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Ah well, there's another great band going to go down the pan then. Haven't they already gone down the pan?
Zaphod Chizzlebrox Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Probably I just wish formerly brilliant bands wouldn't keep diluting their legacy and just stay split up instead. They've tried reunions a fair number of times already and it hasn't worked. It's a bloody shame.

Strays wasn't that great.
Obi Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I love The Muses - that gothic post-punk band. They toured with the Cure once didn't they ?
New Born Lee Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Nothing a bit of awful journalism to give you a bit of hope as a writer.
donmorgan Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Hmmm....I've been listening to "Strays" a lot lately........will be interesting to see how their "sound" evolves....
Morinphen Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Maybe the band they were looking for was Faith And The Muse?
Riveon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nothing a bit of awful journalism to give you a bit of hope as a writer. Was that intentional? post-punk, goth darkness genre, which has been often played by Muse. Um, sure...
Lih Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I wish Muse would make more gothic darkness songs like Starlight.
Furygirl Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 True. They peaked at Ritual de lo Habitual and should have just left it at that. Strays wasn't that great. Yeah, they were one of my fave bands ever, but I lost interest after Ritual. And now Perry F. is on some cheese ball reality show with his plastic wife.
Natalia Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Yeah, they were one of my fave bands ever, but I lost interest after Ritual. And now Perry F. is on some cheese ball reality show with his plastic wife. Renee, your comment just gave me absolutely horrible imagery... I need to wash my brains out with acid or something.
musse Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Goth? Were they inspired by their outfits on NSC?
New Born Lee Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Was that intentional? Was it intentionally bad just to give me hope? How lovely!
dead-duck Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Post-punk goth-darkness? my thoughts exactly.... It goes well with the comment from the aussie venue person who described them as an "anti-establishment style of performance group" The Muse: An anti-establishment style of performance group, specializing in post-punk goth darkness. See: Neutron Star Collision (LOVE IS FOHWEVAH)

Trilateral_Symmetry_Com'n. Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I like that the journo referred to "Muse and Radiohead". For once, Muse is listed first! They're probably going to be shopping for a serious keyboardist now, and probably a new producer. Muse should recommend Rick Rubin to them!
JessicaSarahS Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Here's a better written article. It was referring to Jane's as post-punk/goth: http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/janes-addiction-inspired-by-radiohead_1195217

It was referring to Jane's as post-punk/goth: http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/janes-addiction-inspired-by-radiohead_1195217 ...well that clears everything up! This article is leagues clearer than the OP's one
jackparker Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 The Muses has so many goth hits Neutron Goth Collision, Micro Cuts in my Wrists, Gothbiz, New Goth
Buxomflirter Queef Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 With such wit, Jack, you could win the comedy awards.
