Cool

Also, are you familiar with the different tom anderson pickups? I've been looking into those recently. I wish I knew what that red strat had, as that one had an amazing sound. Even when coil tapped.

Just bought one of these. Not just because the name translates into "goatsucker"

Highly recommend those guys.

h1s? I always assumed they were at least h2s.

The ones I've been looking at are the h2s. Seems like those would suit me well, but if the ones in the strat were h1s, I'm not sure. They sounded great.

sure they were h1s ill have alook when i get home

Sorry, I meant the ones that were in the red strat. I don't think I have the spec list anymore either, so I have no way of finding out exactly. The sound was balanced perfectly with that guitar though. Only thing is the body and neck were mahogany, so that probably made it sound a little bigger than your average strat anyway.

a while back I put a medium output humbucker in the bridge of my fender, but ended up returning to stock a few days later as it really didn't make too much of a difference.

That sounds hot.

+1

it looks like that josh knows how to use this stuff better than the guys on the official site

btw james, check out these pickups, anyone know anything about them?

http://www.zhangbucker.com/index.html

from what i heard on a forum they are like the best ever or close, and they aren't look overpriced if we consider that the poor guy actually wounds them with his two hands, not just holds the pickup while a machine puts the wire around the coils and call it handwound, so this kind of handwound is actually pretty fuckin unique, probably only him makes them this way

he doesn't use that, but the pedal that one is copying. i've owned five or six of them, but never really used them to their full potential.

and i've never heard of them, but they seem interesting

At first when I saw "Vintage Tone With Testosterone"

I thought...oh shit I bet that's what they use in zachary guitars.

fuck, i would actually buy a neck or bridge single coil from him just for the lulz but when i saw that he will ask me what kind of music i play, what kind of pickups i have, what kind of tone i want, etc. i realize that i cannot answer any of those questions, i just want one because of the hype.

they sound pretty good to me

The ONE thing that my LP has always lacked no matter what pickups has been a clear sounding neck pickup. It's clear when clean, but when distorted, it's just a muddy mess.

I have BKP mules in there now, along with some special pots and caps...think it might just be the guitar itself. bridge pickup sounds killer though

That sound on the riff which has the neck and bridge pickup mixed. Mine is nowhere as clear as that.

Of course, mine isn't a '59...

this zhang guy have a pickup called pagey2 (his zep pickup) which is described as kinda hollow (by guys who bought it) compared to other pickups so probably that is why it stays much more clear while it is distorted because it lacks some freq-s other buckers have, probably mostly some mids and/or bass.

(there is not too much bass in his tone anyways, i'd say his tone is kinda thin sometimes)

built the pedal board tonight. Just needs velcro. I may get someone to rhino line it red if it can be done thin enough and cheaply.

the blue blox and digitech are new. Any suggestions of what is the best order let me know. assuming digitech is first

Try every order, you never know. Some people would want the volume before any dirt, others would want it at the end. The tuner could go at either end. If you're using it to mute, and you have a noisy board, then it should probably be at the end. Reverb should generally go at the end, but then you might like the sound of it before a fuzz pedal or something. So, yeh, you never know.

Yeahh I never really got people asking for suggestions on pedal placement, other than pitch related pedals going somewhere near the front so you dont get problems with tracking (and even then, thats subjective.. anything gain could go before pitch.

But yeah, we can hear the results after you have swapped the pedals around, so go trial and error until it sounds how YOU like.

(for what it's worth, rule of thumb is pitch>wah>gain>mod>delay/reverb.)

full drive is awesome, one of my favorites.

The blue box is dumb as shit, but teh bellorz uses it to I must has it. I've got some other pedals I may swap around, but for now this will work.

blue box into a fuzz or distortion pedal sounds immense!

nearly bought a moog phaser as well, but common sense told me not to for once

although that doesn't explain my other purchase. I finally got rid of that marshall 3 channel i've been using for a good four years (mainly because it's been very unreliable), and replaced it with this

it was that or the vintage modern, but i prefer getting teh supra gains from the amp
