rob2881
I don't mean to spark a whole debate surrounding marijuana legalization, but I just learned about this organization called Nip It In The Bud which was against Prop 19 and they list Muse - Uprising as their official campaign song. (http://www.nipitinthebud2010.org) I gotta say, I hope it's not true and I hope Muse can take action against that organization. I wasted my time listening to Alex Datig (founder) speak and she sounds like a moron. That is valuable time I will never get back.
haze015
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSH6ofHbeUw "To make marijuana illegal is like saying God made a mistake." That's the drug debate sorted. Given the quality of that website, I doubt they asked for permission to use the song. Most of the songs they list as well were made by people who've used drugs. PUGER KO
[media] "To make marijuana illegal is like saying God made a mistake." That's the drug debate sorted. Hmmmm. Interesting stuff, however ur mention of God is unnecessary since It's my belief they're outlawing it bc people are getting high (or so iv heard) and I don't think God made it so it could be smoked. Furthermore I highly doubt he would appreciate people giving up their sense of judgement and reasoning just for a brief moment of pleasure. But that's just me. A lot of people against the legalisation of it in the USA are often right wing "Christians" (Although right wing views and Christianity are two very different things) and it's a fair point to make in that situation. There's various reasons it's illegal, it's relatively new to the western world and there's all sorts of established industries that feel they would be disadvantaged if marijuana was legal, but the damage caused by it not being legal to society doesn't justify why it's illegal. If it was just about loss of judgement when high, then all drugs would be illegal and Jesus did turn water into wine.

I agree the effect on society when marijuana is illegal promotes many problems like violence and millions of dollars spent on catching perps and locking them up. Which is why prohibition in the 20s was quickly abandoned. However legislative laws and biblical ones are worlds apart. Anything that would inhibit one's judgement is condemned. Which is why apostol Paul correctly said that drunkards (among other sinful acts) would not inherit the earth. (and when taken in moderation, Jesus said wine soothes the spirit and heart, which is medically correct as well)
Tofu
Didn't Glenn Beck also endorse Muse? Their music is simply everywhere these days. Anyway, everything moderation, including moderation is my motto.

melon
The prop itself was lulzy, because it's against federal law for any state to legalize and tax an illegal substance.

Althea
 at the whole thread. But yeah, if you look at the county by county voting demographics for prop 19, you'll see that it was supported in counties with large numbers of buyers rather than growers. For example, Mendo and Humboldt counties voted majority "no", because the prop was badly written for those on the growing/selling side. Whereas San Francisco, Marin, and Santa Cruz counties had the highest percentage of "yes" votes, which are areas with high concentrations of buyers. At the same time, Arnie signed a bill allowing someone to have up to an ounce without an arrest, but just a small citation. I don't know if it's in response to this --it could just be because of medical marijuana-- but it seems lately there's a lot more right out in the open joint smoking on the streets here in SF...more than usual. The whole Mission seemed to reek of it yesterday as I was walking round doing my errands. I mean, ultimately, unless you've got like an acre of plants or something, the whole state is pretty lax towards pot smoking. No one really cares... it's commonplace here. Also... I would doubt Muse even know about prop 19. As others have said, that site surely used their music on a playlist that they chose themselves, not 'cause of endorsements. PUGER KO
God didn't make it, because God doesn't exist You're right. The way I see it, the most important thing humans have that seperates us from animals is our capability to reason. Of course there is our intelligence, upright stance and many others, but no other thing judge and reason as we can. I don't want to offend anyone but I just don't think, for example Jesus would get high or get drunk or do anything that would impair his judgement. and no, as far as I know, pot isn't mentioned in the bible, but getting drunk is condemned. sorry to those I'm pretty sure I pissed off. Chances are that life came to exist from nothing and randomly arranged itself into the components necessary to create living organisms. That's the science of it. It's generally accepted that life grew from simple single-cell organisms and evolved into what we have today. Humans are not the end of the line, we were never DESTINED to be here, it was chance of human ancestors being the ones that got this far. No such thing as intelligent design I don't believe in destiny. I believe people, naturally, want a plausible reason to eveything. That's obvious, and smart. But we fail to realize that maybe wer not capable of higher thought. Wer like ants that see the small things, but can't imagine the big things. I can't explain the universe, I don't even think my little brain can process such inmense somplications. But I don't really need to. People will try to explain the universe, but instead of leaving areas blank, we fill them with theories. If I wasn't aware of what the bible really said, I'd be right with you buddy. I think anyone with half a brain can see there's not much truth in religion. Most groups do not practice what they preach. But this shouldn't be worrisome, since it's predicted in the bible. Everyone gives up on the idea of God by the negativity of the world. But without giving him a chance by reading the bible. Doesn't make much sense I think. Flaws in scientific theory doesn't give credit to the idea of God. The world depicted in the Bible is easier to imagine than an entire universe where we are just a miniscule faction of and considering a lot of the basis of this knowledge existed prior to the Bible, there's no way anyone can claim there's anything is factual interest in there.
