  4. I'm not sure if anyone has done anything similar to this but I sure haven't found anything. Anyways, I was looking at the lyrics to the songs on Showbiz (The original album so there's no Spiral Static) and I noticed that they sort of, connected in a story. This is what I interpreted it as. (I used random names for the characters so it was less confusing) Sunburn A guy named Joe finds a girl named Sarah and falls in love with her. Muscle Museum Joe has a dark secret (What it is is up for debate) and is arguing with himself as to whether he should tell Sarah. Fillip It is right before Joe and Sarah’s wedding and Joe is nervous that if Sarah finds out about his secret, she will hate him Falling Down Sarah finds out about Joe’s secret and then divorces him. Cave Another girl, Sally, who is friends with Joe, is asking him why he’s so sad, but he just says that it’s nothing to do with her. Showbiz A while later, Joe and Sally have already gotten married and Sally knows Joe has a secret. She keeps pestering him to tell her, and it is driving him insane. Unintended Joe continues to try to convince Sally not to make him tell her his secret, by saying that if he tells her, she might not love him anymore. Uno Joe runs into Sarah somewhere and tries to convince her that they could have had happy lives if she had overlooked his secret. Sober Joe gets drunk and accidentally tells Sally his secret. Escape Joe is trying to convince Sally not to divorce him, but accidentally insults her in the process. Overdue Joe runs into Sarah again and tries to convince her that she’s really missed him since their divorce, but she denies it. Hate This and I’ll Love You Joe decides that he won’t give up until Sarah loves him again. If you have a different interpretation, feel free to let me know.
  5. My name is Jack Lloyd I'm a massive muse fan and i'm inspired by Bellamy in his early days ( Showbiz! ) We are called The grade This is a link to our current music let me know what you guys think http://www.thegrade.co.uk/music/
  6. Hello! My name is Gabriëlle Bol and I am 16 years old. For two years, I have worked on this story called SHOWBIZ. It's obviously inspired by Muse. In fact, I have used a lot of their songs in it. It's not finished yet and the only people who have seen it so far are my friends and family. But I want to change that, I want to share this comic with everyone! I have scanned the first two pages, as well as some related art and... for my final school project, I am going to make merchandise for it. Yes, merchandise. It's very expensive to make this of course, which is why I need everyone's help. I have started a campaign in which you can donate and recieve rewards for it. But of course you want to know more of the comic before you'd donate. Here is a little summary/intro: "Try to imagine a world without any form of money. A world that is all about music instead. And try to imagine that this all works for some reason. Everything seems so perfect and peaceful here. The only problem is the genres. Every country has obtained one of the genres and sticks to it, making it forbidden to listen to or make music from different genres. Christopher is an 18-year-old blind guy born in the genre of Classical Opera. Due to his complicated situation at home, he decides to travel the world with a rebellious band he's met at a local theatre. He soon takes place in their band as their pianist and lead-singer, causing a forbidden combination in which the band combines multiple genres. Against the Government's orders, they will stop at nothing to spread their music and... hopefully destroy the law that has seperated the genres for centuries." Now, here are the first two pages as well, because you're probably wondering about them. For more art, visit the link at the end of this topic. Now I know this may all seem a little unprofessional, especially considering my age. I won't lie to you, I'm not a professional. Not yet. It has been my dream to become a comic artist ever since I was little. It has ALWAYS been my dream to change the world, to tell stories and teach things to people. It's more than that, it is MY PURPOSE. I may be young, perhaps too young, but I want to accomplish this anyway. Merchandise is a pretty big, first step. Not only is it really awesome to have, it will also spread the story. Which I think is a good thing because the story is full of political messages and more (also a lot of lessons about life and happiness). This comic has never been about making money, it's all about spreading messages and learning people things about life! I think everyone should be able to read that. Okay, I'll stop writing this topic now because it's getting too long. There's just one more wish I would like to tell you before you (hopefully) click the link below. I'm not sure if there is any way to show this comic to Muse themselves... but... it would be the greatest honour. More than that, it's my dream to show this to them. I owe the entire story and comic to them, so yeah! For more information (there's also an awesome video I made!) and the campaign itself, go here: http://www.indiegogo.com/showbizcomic?c=gallery&a=1638920 . It would be my greatest honour if you looked at it, take the time to read it and contribute. Or at least share it with others! It would take little time for you to make a dream come true!
  7. Who likes Escape from the first album? I absolutely love it, especially the live version from Bizarre '99 http://youtube.com/watch?v=ah15AKIIMfw I was reading through musewiki (as you do ) and stumbled across the possible interpretations of this song: 1. About a man who is questioning himself about his actions to his loved one which may caused her to leave him and bring depression to the man. In the end, he now believes his life is meaningless and insignificance and there's no one that can change his view on it. He then now chooses to Escape his life by killing himself. 2. Possibly a song about the divorce of Bellamy's parents. The line "Why can't you just love her?" could be Bellamy begging his dad to stay with his mom. "But I'll still take all the blame" could be a reference to how children feel it is their fault when their parents get divorced. Does anyone else agree with any of these? Or do you have you own interpretation? To me, this is probably the most raw, emotional performance I've ever seen, and on another note, after going through some of their older EP's & B-sides, I'm beginning to see how different it is to their new BHAR stuff - which I now understand why some weren't too happy with BHAR Thoughts?
  8. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I'm starting a work about Muse and I need every possible information on the band and so on. I was asking myself if Matthew in the early years' interviews (or later) has ever spoke his mind about Radiohead. Some fans report that he dislikes them, but there is some common ground in the first album, and I have to presume that he probably listened to Pablo Honey and The Bends, at least. Has he ever openly spoke his mind about them in any interview? Important: I am not interested into any kind of Muse vs Radiohead debate, really. Thanks!
  9. Hi guys, I'm currently researching on Muse's history, and I need to find interviews of the "Showbiz" era, this means any interview to Muse that appeared in magazines, webzines or video between 1999 and 2000. Wonder if anyone can help me with some links! Thanks!
  10. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I have a few questions for you guys regarding Matt's gear. Background info... I'm a guitarist, I absolutely hate 90% of the crap that passes as "Plug in Baby cover"s on youtube, and I didn't know if there was a thread dedicated to Muse's gear yet (aside from the wiki). (To the point) I love Muse's work especially in Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry. So, what kind of amps/effects did Matt use on his guitar? I'm looking for that Muse sound like in Hyper Music and Sober especially.
  11. Does anyone know of an Instrumental version of Unintended? I'm getting married, and we'd like it to be played during the ceremony, as the song means a lot to us - but i can't find a version! Is there one, anyone know where i can download it if there is? Cheers!
  12. I met the great Dom Howard at a Biffy Clyro show a few days ago. It was absolutely unexpected, instead of asking relevant questions I shook violently and rambled about... God knows what. He was amazing, very nice. Having been watching him from afar the last 10 years and never even imagined meeting him so I lost what little cool I might have ever had. So rather than regret my wasted opportunity of having a few questions answered I was hoping you could all put my mind to rest! 1. Why the lack of love for Showbiz on their last two tours? It's always been my favorite album, but unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to see them live till 07', which was seemingly the end of them playing the songs live. Not even one song on the regular set list? The album is what made most of us fall in love with them, no love for their roots? 2. How much creative control do they have when it comes to picking the set list, and then switching it up at the shows. How spontaneous are random songs played live? And who decided to play them? Does their manager hand them a list and they play it, or does someone say "I feel like playing Bliss today, let's do it!". Or even in the moment, can one person just decide to switch up the list, or are they restricted to the list? 3. How much do they have to do with picking their openers? I saw them earlier in the year (NV, USA) and Silver Sun Pickups were their openers, whom I very much enjoyed watching. All their European supporters have been amazing. Now, I just sat through 4 shows cringing to the sound of Passion Pit. Seriously? Are they fans? Who decides these things!? The sounds are not remotely comparable, and the general feedback of everyone I talked at the shows, as well as my interpretation of the crowds reaction gave me the impression that others opinions were the same as mine. That's whats been eating at me! Hehe. Other random relevant questions at the time could have also been, What's your favorite Biffy Clyro song? How long have you been following the band? What's your favorite song to play live?
  13. I've searched and checked a lot of pages to find an appreciation thread for Fillip and have found none. So, for all of those Fillip fans, here's one. Spread you love for it here.
  14. Well, as you may or may not know, today, the 4th October, 2009, marks the 10th anniversary of Muse's bloody amazing 1st album, Showbiz!:awesome: Obviously, a thread had to be made, dunno if one has been made already or where to put it, but I think we should just use this thread to celebrate Showbiz's 10 anniversary and just share parts we love about it etc. I'll start by saying: THANK YOU, MUSE FOR A FREAKIN' AWESOME FIRST ALBUM, I STILL LOVE IT AND LISTEN TO IT REGULARLY!
